I'm sorry but whilst its not an ideal food group, its not exactly child abuse. Child abuse is not something you should be throwing around. Especially when its not. It's hurtful.

To teach a kid to eat in moderation, you need to give them food in moderation. Even the junk food. A treat is a treat. And never a bad thing.
DH's step siblings were denied it at every avenue and when they were in situations where their parents were not around, they would binge on it, excessively.
So my kids have it as a treat.
Maccas happy meal - nuggets, apple pieces and water. They eat the fruit first most times. My youngest eats the fruit and mashes the nuggets together. She only got them after her first birthday and still is not sure what it is, just that her sister has had it before and she has been denied it in the past.
As for the mcmuffin, its not the worst thing on the menu.

My cousins' cousin was visiting their grandparent in hospy when she pulled out a bottle, filled it with coke and gave it to her 7-mth-old. Everyone in the room yelled at her, and she wondered what she was doing wrong ... Mind you, she also wondered why she was a round person, when she'd drink about 4L of coke / day.

    I find this interesting.

It was snapshot into their life.
there is no way anyone can know how they live every second of the day.

Hey I dont even know what ill eat tomorrow or next week.

With 3 kids maccas is a good fortnightly treat for us. the kids enjoy it, they know its a treat and yeh DD1 had maccas at 6 months and Dd2 at 9 months, it was a few chips or some nuggets. she didn't like the cheese burger

but seriously, would you like to be judged if you gave your child something which is deemed as unhealthy?
or if you did something which someone classes as "abuse" even when it isn't
and for something to be abusive it really needs to be seen in a certain context and a quick snapshot can not do this.

I Personally think using the term "ABUSE" is very unwarranted and if it was me you were talking about i would be deeply hurt and even take what was said as defamation but thats just me, because like others have said to learn moderation we must be shown moderation.

The word abuse is used widely throughout the community and in BB and physical abuse comes in many different shades.
A level 2 earthquake is still an earthquake even though it is barely discernable. I imagine that if I were to tell a survivor of the Haitian earthquake last year that I too was an earthquake survivor their face would look a little like this or maybe this or if they weren't a patient person like this or maybe they would just do a combo

Actually cherished - and I think you might find this extremely interesting considering the thread - my daughter has inherited my intolerance to many colours, flavours and oreservatives, and can't eat most take away. But McDonalds is actually the one she can eat without me having to censor her diet (apart from the hideous sauces). A chicken nuggets meal, with fries and a chocolate shake, is actually one of the few takeaway meals she can eat with no reactions. Interesting hey. I'd much prefer to see a child eating McDonalds then Red Rooster!!! The bad stuff in Red Rooster is astronomical, and it's funny that it's often called a healthier choice!!! Just sayin'. Try looking at it from a few different angles.

And yes I've seen it from yours, and I appreciate the concern you have for a babies body digesting this food. It is a real concern, as I'm sure they'd struggle.
Babies bodies also struggle digesting formula as opposed to breastmilk. It's different, but not hugely different. Different foods. Different choices. Different families. Different reasons...

Their chips are pretty much coated in MSG, arificial flavours and a few other flavour enhances!!! They're 'seasoned' which is a huge giveaway. I also have an issue with Hungry Jacks chips, though not so much, but theres something in HJ chips I can't put my finger on that makes Jazz and I go a little funny. Not haha either

A lot of the seasonings used in the RR chicken seasoning/crumbs has a lot of flavourings and flavour enhancers in it, the McDonlads chicken nuggets are much better (although questionable as to part of the chicken is actually is) the batter itself is pretty harmless in comparison.

Indadhanu - DD2 has a shocking reaction to MSG as well. We only have Macca's & KFC here & I'm not a fan of KFC, so fast food for us is 90% macca's & DD has never had a problem. (DD's sensitivities to additives have her bouncing off the walls on 'Chemists Own' nurofen!)

Wow Skye - we don't even go near KFC, that place is dripping in food additive evilness. What do you buy that doesn't make her go crazy? I'll admit I've not really tried Jazz on KFC, as I know it usually effects me badly.
