Both mine and DP's families, have worked or volunteered with the elderly and the consensus was the food is very bland. But it's good to hear that's not always the case.
Gambling, adult themes, feeding maccas to the elderly?!
I don't know how you people live with yourselves!!

I tell ya what Onyx, it's not easy thats for sure. But hey someones got to do it right? Otherwise what else would people have to talk about?![]()
I haven't read much further than here at this stage... but OMG YES Rory!! Ya know, I'm the same. Oskar... he didn't get chocolate or anything like that until after 12 months old... no junk at all really until hmmm probably closer to 2 and tv? Pfft he didn't watch it cos I didn't put kid channels on. Elijah? Different story! He has an older brother, who now yes watches DVD's and I PUT THEM ON FOR HIM... for rest time and Elijah ate chocolate before he was 12 months... he has an older brother who shared... so it does get a lot harder to "police" these things that we probably all feel like we'd like to do. I have also used tv for both of them just so I can COOK a nutritious meal and not have them fighting or the likes. Fussy kids? Oh yep, most of us have been through or going through that stage, will only eat xyz and ya know, sometimes it's not the healthiest thing they could be eating, but HELL THEY'RE EATING WOOHOO!
Clover, re: the teeth... Oskar has not had junk food like you described (wow @ that though)... and he's got some bad teeth... not that need pulling or anything, but he got unlucky and has a few issues and has been to the dentist 2 times now and another checkup due next month... so I can't say much there at all. People may judge me and think that I give him loads of sugar etc and it's done this to his teeth, but it's not the case at all.
Don't worry, my own kids have dental issues, luckily not too bad. I also know a little girl with no front teeth from the abs after a staph infection. BUT I've seen how this little one lives. It drives me nuts coz my kids are always on my back about how unfair it is.
Cordial, juice, chocolate milk, lollipops, coco pops, easter eggs & a sausage sandwich was all I saw her eat in the 2 days we were there on the weekend.
Denying kids junk foods can bite you on the bum too. How many kids have we all seen denied the good stuff, to get out of home & binge on it? I did, & I wasn't denied all that much! You have to teach a child. Everything in life will have an impact. If you don't guide/teach your kids as well, nothing will work!
*drool* big mac & cheeseburger............... (Yes, I'm a pig!)
DD1 has the choice of anything at macca's & has a wrap! She knows all about healthy eating, exercise & moderation. Its all about what you teach them!
I have a photo of DS at 5 months old sucking on a freddo frog! Cute memory, but didn't happen again for a long time. I also have a photo of him with an empty Jimmy can in his hand...
Just got back from a lovely dinner. E refused to eat any chips or nuggets, she just sucked dip off bread! Then she gorged herself on the biggest bit of chocolate birthday cake!!!
Hmm. I wonder if any of the other patrons were judging me ?? Do I care?
Nup. A great night out for us all!
just subbing ... who needs telly when we have this thread![]()
Recipes. yes. we need recipes.
I onlykeep coming back for that chocolate-chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cake
MadB - we can stalk for recipes together if you like. C'mon ladies, pony up with the cake recipes. Quickly. Otherwise I'm going to cook up a slab of bacon, dip it in a bucket of maple syrup and eat it, and MadB is going to scarf her way through four blocks of dark chocolate. Do you really want that on your consciences?![]()
yeah! at least make me mix it up with a bit of flour or something first
