How do you play musical beds?

DH and I usually go to sleep in our beds and the boys go to theirs. Between midnight and 1am DS2 arrives at our bed and then some hours later DS2 arrives. Then if it's past 6am both DS's get up and if it is before 6am either DH or I surrender the territory in our bed and go and sleep in one of the boy's beds. I always sleep really well in a boy's bed.

That is when DH is home. When he is not home I can sleep ok in our bed with 2 boys.
If DH is very late to bed and DS2 is already occupying it DH sometimes just goes straight to his bed instead of bothering with our bed.

How does it go in your home?

i cut out the middle man - ie DH - and sleep with my daughter.

We have a queen size guest bed, plus a decent couch. So if the situation for sleep gets very desperate, normally DH will head off to one of those. The times I have snuck off for a better sleep all I get is grumbling from DH how he was kept awake by DD2. Thankfully DD1 stays in her bed most nights (well once she is asleep that is)

If DD1 comes in then I usually head into her bed. I love my girl dearly, but she is the worst person on the planet to sleep with - she turns every which way and I normally end up with a good few kicks and punches for my troubles when sharing with her. She also carries on full blown conversations in her sleep and I'm a light sleeper so its easier to just leave her and DH in our bed.

If its DD2 then either the three of us stay, or DH will leave. DD2 is gorgeous to sleep with and TBH she is the best option in our house to share a bed with - cuddles in, doesn't talk, snore or move around.

If both the girls come in then DH gets out immediately and gets into one of their beds and I will tend to follow after the girls are asleep.

If DH is snoring too loudly and I'm struggling to get to sleep then I will go and crawl in with DD2 and leave him to it. I have never in my life met anyone who can snore while lying on their stomach!

My 2 are the same. DS1 is all pointy and kicky and DS2 is fuzzy and snuggly. I sometimes get the guilts because I sleep more with DS2 and he gets more snuggles I feel bad for DS1 because it's not his fault he's wriggly and pointy.

Me too with the guilt Onyx. The girls share a room, and if its been a night where DH has been snoring and I've crawled in with DD2 I will sometimes try to sneak out of her bed in the morning before they wake so I can climb in with DD1 so she thinks I've slept with her all night.

We have a queen with a single butted up against it. DH is in the single and I'm between the two kids in the queen. DD was sleeping in her bed, but has started going to bed reaaally early and sleeping through when she falls asleep in my bed, so I encouraged it (plus i love snuggling her!)

I get so much more sleep these days than when we all tried to keep a conventional arrangement.

At the moment i start in our bef, sonetimes with dd. When do comes to bed he moves dd to her bassinet. DS used to sometimes jump into our bed at some point but he's going through a phase where he just calls for me so if (when) he does, i jump into his bed. Then i ho back to my bed when dd wakes up for a feed. Some nights i just go into ds once but between the two of them last night, i changed beds every hour

We upgraded to a king size before DD2 arrived so when DD1 sneaks in, there is plenty of room for the three of us now - most of the time that is

DD2 has recently moved into her cot which is in our room. She's been really content in both her bassinet and cot so no one has been forced to swap places with her yet

DH when he is home spends much of his time in the spare bed.
DD2 starts with me and we are usually joined at some point by DS. I too am guilty of sneaking in with DD1 so she doesn't feel left out. I have a snuggler, a toucher and a pointy kid. Thankfully the snuggler is tiny, the toucher can be placated with a hand hold and the pointy kid sleeps so deeply she really has no idea if anyone is there or not.

DS got a surprise new bed one day when DH was home full time and I (heavily pregnant) had been evicted from our bed into DS' bed...it was the worst mattress on earth!! I went straight down and got him a new one, so I'm quite happy to be evicted now that I know both kids and the spare are great beds to sleep in lol.

DD2 has recently decided she wants to sleep in DD1's cot with her. In the meantime, DD2 has figured out how to get out of the cot and it's also missing a rail because DD1 got her knee stuck in there during the middle of the day and luckily there was a tradie around and he had to saw the rail off. OK, off topic.

So, DD1 and DD2 will either both be in the cot or one will be in the double bed next to the cot or both will be in the double bed.

I will start of sleeping in my room and then get up and go to their room if I hear them. Or DP, who sleeps in a different room (shiftworker) will get up to them. Except he's away for a month.

Or DP and I will sometimes both start off in our bed then one of us will go to their room.

Even I'm confused.
