So with our newest addition due in early feb, we are thinking of moving our DS into a big bed in around November after we get back from an o/s holiday. We already have a spare bed which we were just going to use otherwise we would have to get rid of it cuz we don't have the room for it anywhere else.
This was the plan but I've just realised it's a queen bed.... Is this going to be just way to big for him to move into?
And then the other dilemma - where do I get cool kids sheets from in that size?..
DD is in a queen size bed. It's great because when people visit (e.g. my parents or the inlaws) they sleep in DD's bed and she camps on the spare cot mattress in our room. So they get a proper bed and she loves the camp out
She's only recently started rolling out of it, so we just make sure she's right up against the wall and has lots of space to move. She falls out a lot more in a small mattress!
you might want a step for him to make it easier to climb in and out. We have used a folded portacot, toy chest and plastic stool at different times as steps to get out.
Unless he is used to sleeping in a bed, i would get a bed rail until he gets used to it, and have other side of the bed up against a wall (or 2 bed rails). I think mine was around $40 full price at Target.
Are you going to use a queen doona? You could use a single doona for him, and then be able to get kids linen. I have seen double/queen in kids but can't remember where, sorry. maybe spotlight/target?
I would still use a bed rail for a bit till he gets used to it, and against a wall, but no reason that can't go straight to a queen I know many people who have.
Target have nice kids covers and sheets in all sizes!!!
my ds is in a single bed. he starts each night in it, and occasionally is still there in the morning.. most nights he wanders into our room sometime during the night and then falls back asleep. I am hoping he begins to stay there more without me doing anything. but if that doesn't happen, we will begin walking him back and resettling him in his bed in a month or two.
he doesn't use a bed guard anymore, but his bed is lower than normal.
