    Toddler/baby and stairs

What do you do to prevent small children toppling down stairs?
I was wondering if I should put a gate at top and bottom or just one at bottom or one at top ??
We move to our new place this weekend and this is a new thing and with a 24mo prone to falling and not paying attention and a 9mo learning to walk and very curious

Where will they spend the majority of the time? If downstairs then one at the bottom only and try to watch them when upstairs. If the time is evenly split, I would have a gate at top and bottom.

Yeah I think it will be evenly split well it is atm but I guess I may develop a new routine cause two gates is gonna be a pain

We had gates at the top and bottom in our previous house that had stairs and the kids were about the same age.

I had them top and bottom when we had stairs, plus I also taught dd how to go down them backwards , jic a gate was left open

Top and bottom here too, especially for my girls who had never been around stairs before we moved, ds was only 4 months when we moved. We were able to remove them when he was 18 months or so because he was able to use them properly and didn't play on or around them.

Top and bottom here too. I just couldn't risk it.
