What do you think - is this inappropriate?

Is it inappropriate (sp?) that Isaac (22 months) is allowed play with a box of condoms?

He tips them out and puts them back in again, or spreads them around the bedroom depending on where he is on the destructometer that morning..

No right or wrong answer I'm just having a slight disagreement with DF and would like to know what people think.

I wouldn't allow it. First concern would be if it ended up in a child's mouth.

DD's fave toy a couple weeks back was a box of tampons. Like your DS, she took em out, put em back, took them out, threw them around the bedroom, picked them all up again. So I would say as long as he is being supervised, and doesnt know what they are, then it's not entirely inappropriate.

I'm with Manhattan. He doesn't know what he's looking at at this age, as long as he isn't chewing on them I'd be inclined to let him go. Moo went through a huge obsession with HPTs & OPKs late last year. Would just take them all out, then put them all back in the box, over & over...

Yup, DS2 thinks that tampons make a great teether!!

Yeah sorry, inappropriate for me too, I'd be scared of swallowing it but other than that it just seems wrong.

At that age I'd say he won't have a clue what he's playing with, so only really inappropriate to us because we know what they are and what they're for. But I'd still probably take them away and give him a toy instead. I'd be worried about the choking thing, and it's not necessarily something you want him to get attached to as a play thing!

I don't think its inappropriate because like Kaytee said, he has no idea what they are or what they're for, but I would be more concerned about safety - what if he puts one in his mouth, or manages to open one? I would stop him playing with them for those reasons more than whether or not it would be deemed appropriate.

LOL you just reminded me of Moo during his HPT obsession, screaming in Safeway because there was a box in the trolley that he wanted to get to! I gave in & he was waving them around the whole time we were in there

We live with MIL so I always make sure they are all safely packed away before we leave the bedroom... Door is always closed so that should be ok.
