When do you stop using child safety locks?

What age did you/do you intend to stop using the child safety locks in the car?

When I got stuck in the back after the door closed on my skirt. So after that incident, we don't use them.

I took it off a few weeks back. I always had the rear passenger side done, but the right wasn't. But it started being a pain with them on and DS has stopped trying to open the car door mid-trip LOL so I figured it was time to take it off.

We've never used them.

We don't have them. But our car automatically locks after 5kms/h is reached. The kids cannot unlock the doors themselves whilst the car is running.

Our car locks too but it's more that I don't want them jumping out in car parks and onto the street than concern about them leaping from a moving vehicle.

It's like a serial killer car lol. People get to their destination and realise I've locked them in muahahaha

Really?? I hate having doors locked in the car. Will have to keep this in mind if we get a new car as a feature I don't want! LOL. I've never heard of it before.

So your boys wear skirts then? Or will they be wearing skirts when they are 30?

yeah when they could put their seatbelts off and on by themselves!

Yeah, it probably is an accident/safety thing. I dunno... I just don't like it. So even once you've stopped they can't unlock the door themselves? What if you have adult passengers?

I don't think our kids could reach the door handles from their seats, so opening while going along wasn't really an issue, and DS has never tried it since being in his booster. And we just told the kids to wait for us to open their door before they get out of the car. Has worked for us so far (can't speak for DD2 yet lol.. she might be the one to make me use child locks!)

Mine are still on. DS doesn't try opening the door whilst driving but he probably would once we're parked and I'd rather he didn't hit another car with his door so they'll stay on until he's walking into school by himself whenever that may be.

I always lock my doors as soon as I get in, before I even start the car
