We pay $50 to get our ****er spaniel clipped (and washed). Ours is also a mobile dog wash that comes to us.
Our vets also offer dog grooming too, but we've been using our dog groomers to many years now, so haven't changed- but i believe they were about the same price.
Many years ago we did try to clip our dog ourselves...did not turn out too good- as she is very furry...the cheap clippers just wouldn't clip...and to buy good quaility dog clippers would cost around $300 (well thats the only ones we could find)...so figured we'd just keep up with getting some who knows what they are doing.
Good luck...hope you can find somewhere a little more reasonable in price.
I really am unsure whether that is expensive or not, but if your dog is good....stays still etc, then I'd just consider getting clippers onto her yourself. I think that groomers tend to charge especially if the dog is 'difficult'
Coming from a girl who has a fully coated Old English Sheepdog...I know a thing or two about brushing and ear plucking....but not clipping!!
OMG, I pay $110 for my cat to be clipped, but I spose that's because they sedate him. I didn't get him done at the vet last time, I just hacked into him with the scissors and clippers cause I'm finding it hard to accept that my cat gets a haircut more expensive than I do LOL...
I used to take my dog to our vet to be clipped. She's a sheepdog so in summer she gets shaved, in winter she has a strip out and a wash, it used to cost $55. Now I go to a lady who does it from home and pay $40-$50 depending on how bad the dog is.
My dog (Labrador x collie) had REALLY long fur on the legs, belly, tail, ears etc... I just clipped the hair myself. By "clipping" I mean cutting with scissors. It really isn't that hard. The advantage of using scissors is that you can cut some parts shorter than others. And if you do mess it up... it always grows back!
