On Saturday I did the unthinkable and accidentally ran over my cat. Luckily he survived and after xrays the vet's confirmed he has a broken pelvis.
The vet advised that he must stay locked in a cage for 2wks for it to heal. I have borrowed a very large cage from a friend so he has room for his bed, his litter box and food. My concern is he can't support his weight to stand to go to the toilet.
The first 12hrs he was in a smaller cage which couldn't fit in his litter box so I was lifting him into his litter box every few hours. He didn't go then but ended up weeing and pooing over himself over night.
Since he's in the bigger cage, I can fit in his litter box in but he can't support his weight on his back legs to go to the loo & it really hurts him to move to and from it (as much as it hurts him when I have to lift him). How can I help him?

you poor thing. So lucky he survived. I'm pretty sure you could get a pet 'nappy'. I know they have them for dogs, maybe call your vet and ask them what would be best. Or you could make your own one I guess. You'll just have to change it frequently so he doesn't get nasty things like bacteria growing.
Hope you've been having better days since then too, that was a shocker
