Awe hun, accidents happen.
Has your vet given you anything to give him for pain relief? For the first few days you might just have to get up and put him on the tray every few hours.

Yes, the vet gave me an oral liquid to give him that's an anti inflammatory & pain relief combo which he has to have once a day.

You can sometimes roll up a piece of material like a towel and use it like a sling under his chest so his back legs don't have to carry so much of his body weight. But check with your vet because of the broken pelvis. They may not recommend it. We used to do it in clinic but further back near the pelvis when we had tick dogs in.

That is good that he has the pain relief but if after a few days he is still not getting up to go to the tray I would give the vet a call to see about any other options for pain relief. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

when our cat was hit by a car and broke his pelvis we had to lift him every few hours. and when he was lying down we had those big incontinence sheets down under him. but it did require some sponge baths for the accidents. they are amazing creatures and heal quite quickly, but the toileting is the hardest part IMO. for them to step over into the litter tray is really hard.

So it's been just over a week now. He's eating heaps and wants to get out of the cage (so today and tonight he's in the laundry - even though he escaped and when we came home saw him hobbling out of our room). His left leg is more limp than his right and looks awkward on the very little times I have seen him try to move. Not sure whether to ring the vet to ask if it's all normal or wait for the 2wks to be up as the vet suggested then ask. As he's eating heaps he's going to the loo alot but the vet said he could get constipated on the meds but the opposite had occurred. Hubby's not enjoying the cleaning of the litter trays (as I can't as we are expecting). I hate seeing him not being able to be himself. I can still hear that awful noise when I hit him. Gives me shivers!!

I'm so sorry, it must be awful. When I worked in a vet clinic I saw heaps of broken pelvis' from cats being run over in their own driveway... I would suggest that even though he seems to be moving more, it would be best to keep him as confined for at least 2 weeks. I wouldn't let him out more until that time is up. Our cat recently got hit by a car and had a spinal injury, we had to keep him inside and confined for 6 weeks. I kept him confined for 10.
