I keep thinking of more. He hated the hose with a passion. He hated his tail being brushed, would get really irked if you even looked like you were going to do it. I couldn't lead him without a lead rope - he refused to be led by me holding his mane. When we got him and were selling the mare, a couple came to look at her and asked if we would consider selling him instead. He was a stunning looking horse. If you blew softly into his nostrils, he'd blow back. Massive personality.

Our other horse settled as soon as I let him into the paddock where Indy died. He trotted down to the spot and had a sniff around and then moved away slightly and started to eat. One of the neighbours has a pony, the kids have long grown too big for it. We're hoping the owners will be willing to move the pony into our paddocks to give both of them some company. Fingers crossed. We're all really concerned that he'll fret. He's older and is a bit more frail than we considered Indy to be. We're actually a bit shocked that Indy went first (and that's an absolutely horrible thing to think).

Thank you for all your kind words. Both horses mean everything to me. I didn't live near any of my friends during school, never had a boyfriend. They were my all for many years. We've enjoyed watching them in their "retirement", the knowledge that we wouldn't get on their backs anymore, that if we sought them out, it was to give them treats and hugs. It's nice to be able to share his story with people who have compassion and understand just what he meant to me.

I went and saw our other horse again this morning, he's quiet and calm, but watching us closely. Before, he couldn't really give two hoots about what we were doing or if we were near him, but now he's looking around himself to keep us in his sights. Not wary exactly, just watchful. Bit unsure. He keeps going to the spot Indy died. We've put in a couple of calls for a buddy - one family seem to be away, but the other we will know by tonight.

I had a horrible night. Mum asked me so many times if I was sure he had died, that I kept waking up during the night, believing that I'd made the wrong call, that he hadn't died and he'd been sent away by mistake. And then I'd lay there and worry about our other horse - what if he's fretting, what if he's cold......Awesome.

When my boy died I dont think I slept for weeks and I would still go to the farm (mum abd dads) and call him. I was glad we got a digger in and burried him at the farm, I also had a stainless marker made at my work that now marks his spot.
We got a new paddock mate fir our pony that we had. He slept every night in the spot Murphy died - they definatly know they have lost a mate.
It does and will get easier... It does take a while and I still shed a tear fir my lost boys. I lost my clydie earlier this year to snake bite so it's still raw.
    Hugs my love xo
I got a commemorative tattoo on my Back for my boy....
