We have used disinfectant, Simple Green and some powerful cleaner that is used dog kennels. The powerful cleaner did do a good job first time at killing smell and for about 2 days he stopped pooing in the area completely. Now it does not seem to work as well, plus it has big poison warnings, so I am a bit concerned with what it is doing to the environment.
Have not tried vinegar yet, need to buy myself a more.
I have been told that the really strong smelling cleaners put animals off, i guess something to do with scent marking or something.
Citronella is meant to deter dogs and cats, but it has no effect on my dog at all.
Shannon Lush would tell you that baking soda and vinegar will clean everything. Give that a go, although i always add a bit of eucalyptus oil for a nicer smell!
Worked out he is pooing at every entrance to the property. When he is let out he now poos on the front porch, at the side gate on the other side of the house etc. So looks like a territorial thing. Have just not heard of other dogs doing this. There are 2 large dogs from another property that came around occasionally, so he may be pooing due to them.
