Taking a pill late?

I "forgot" to take my contraceptive pill this morning. Is it ok if I take it when I get home from work at 17:00? Would it be less effective?

If it's a mini pill (progesterone only) then no it won't work, you need to take it AND use condoms for the next 7 days. If it's the combined pill then so long as you take it within 12 hours of when you should have it doesn't count as a missed pill. If it's more than 12 hours then same deal, take it when you can and use condoms for 7 days.
