    Mini Pill side effects

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, so, please move if not

I have been on the mini pill for about 5 weeks, and get headaches, nausa & dizzy spells, and my fingers get bloated type feelings. I am not sure if its related, but, a friend mentioned that she had similar experiences when on the mini pill. I received no little info sheet when i got the pill, so i am not sure.

Also, i have not yet got AF, and havent physically b/f Aiden since he was about 7weeks. I expressed till he was 10weeks, and formula since then. Is the mini pill preventing me from getting AF?

Is it still possible to fall preg while on the mini pill?

    Hi Debbie
I got a bit of info but I have never been on it
The Mini-Pill is 96 percent to 99 percent effective. The mini-pill must be taken at the same time every day, with only three hours leeway eitherside of the usual time of taking it.If a pill is forgotten, another form of contraception (e.g. condoms) must be used until three further pills in a row have been taken if you do not wish to become pregnant.

    Disadvantages/side effects?
An increased risk of spotting between periods
    Irregular bleeding
    No periods
The effectiveness of the Mini-Pill can be reduced by other drugs so check with your doctor or your local family planning clinic.

    Thanks Jo.

If the mini pill is stopping AF, then, cant that then cause me to have problems falling preg when i come off the pill, as my cycle will be majorly disrupted?

    Hi Debbie
I don't think it would cause problems falling pregnant. When your on the Ordinary Pill you still get AF but its not really a real period.

I found a list of other known side effects:
*If you did become pregnant while taking the mini-Pill, there is a chance that the pregnancy might be ectopic, that is outside the womb - so if your period is late and you get pain in your lower tummy, contact a doctor fast (ectopics are said to be rarer with the recently-developed Cerazette).
*you may get spots on your skin.
    *you could get tender breasts.
*there's a small risk of cysts in the ovaries – indeed, it’s best not to use the mini pill if you’ve already had an ovarian cyst.
    *nausea and headache sometimes occur.

I was going to go on the mini pill from my bub is born but after reading some of the side effects I don't know if I will. I don't know how common the side effects are.

    hi debbie,
my name is ray. My answer to you is yes you can get pregnant on the mini pill, i became pregnant twice. The mini pill is for breastfeeding mothers i became pregnant because i have a blood condition and i wasn't allowed on the normal pill, so i was on the mini pill for a couple of years.
If you a getting headaches and feeling dizzy my suggestions is stop taking it and find another conception, you can't function like that and look after a baby.
    Goodluck with everything.

    ray
