this is something I've been thinking about for a long while. There really isn't much info out there on the long term effects of the pill or even info on how exactly it works. (eg. How many people realize that most of the synthetic hormones work by making our body believe it is pregnant?)
I do know of some people who have trouble conceiving after long term use of the pill- most of the time it's because the body doesn't remember how to ovulate. Having said that there are also a few I know of that having always had irregular cycles the pill helped them conceive by showing their body how to have regular cycles.
Personally I can't use hormone contraceptives as it affects my mental well-being too much (my body doesn't like pregnancy very much either.
For yourself, I would ask your Gyn/Ob her/his opinion & also use the Internet to find out what research has been done on the subject. (medical websites are good for this)
P.S. If you feel that you're not ready for another baby yet,
trust your instinct- I wasn't ready but DH was (rarity) so I said yes & it took us 6 months TTC (our other 3 were TTC in under 2 months) and this pregnancy has been riddled with complications. I still love my bubby to bits but it has been harder to enjoy being pregnant.
I wish you the best of luck in your search.
