"everyone welcome" playgroup but no contact details
When I was out walking today I walked past a day care centre that had a sign on the fence and another big sign inside the fence saying that a playgroup is held Wednesday 10-12, for kids 0-5 and "everyone welcome" but no phone number or anything. There are a couple of other playgroup type things they have there too and they were on signs next to the other playgroup signs, but both of them had contact numbers which were different to each other.
I'm not sure what to do, I would really like to try this one and see if it's better than the one I currently go to (I took a break from it for about a month, went back last week and two days later I start getting a cold..go figure ). Can I just rock up when it says? Not that I feel very comfortable doing that as I have no idea who goes to it and would be by myself, I'm not that great at making introductions!
I did a google search and came up with two possibilities that may be it, but both have different phone numbers. One of them only says the street it's on, while the other has a numbered address (same street) so I'd say they are one and the same, but the numbers are different so who knows if either still works.
What would you do? Rock up to a strange playgroup and say hi...or should I try the numbers and see what happens? It's also a child care centre so that makes it a bit more difficult as they must have more than one thing going on in the building at one time.
I would just rock up. I did that when I first moved down here, for some reason I felt more comfortable with a rock up on, than a phone before hand one. I think I liked that there was no obligation, I could go and then not go back if I did not like it. Well it was a great playgroup and I stayed for 2 years.
I finally managed to get to the playgroup this morning. Have been meaning to for the last few weeks but either forgot it was on or had something else to do. But, I just rocked up and they were so friendly. Only one mum was there when I got there, so I think I preferred being introduced to everyone as they arrived rather than being confronted with all of them at once.
It does cost money, a $40 rego fee through Playgroups NSW and $2/week, whereas the other one is free, but I think we will be going back. The mums, although they were all at least 6 or 7 years older than me, were really nice and actually talked to me, and it is a lot less chaotic than the other playgroup. We walked there, with DD in the sling, and on the way back home we stopped at a cafe and had some lunch so it was a really nice morning out.
I was hoping to do that this morning to (our first playgroup) but the hall was damaged by a party on the weekend so it didn't go ahead... so instead the girls and I went to the shops...hmmm... def cxame home with more than I should have ( a few skirts, pants and tops ) . I did though get crm for Miss S and her skin!
Hoping to make it next week.
i'm so pleased for you ss_storm...it's so great to have a good playgroup. mine costs as well - i pay either by term or yearly plus the playgroup vic fee but i think it's worth it
