That makes me so cross when governments cut off funding too these wonderful places!!!
THe onyl thing I can think of is fundraising. We do this alot at school when funds run out.
Chocolate drives are always a hit and a big taker of money. You can ring up cadbury's or mars or alternatively look up their websites for more info.
it will not generate nearly enough money for what you need but will be a good start.
Also not sure but maybe you can contact your local paper and ask them if they would like to write a story on it to try and generate interest with funding. If it is a good centre then lots of people will be disappointed that they may have to close if they dont get the funding they need.
I know this was posted a while ago but thought I'd let you know of another avenue depending on what state you're in. Lotterywest in WA offer funding to playgroups. Not sure if you have similar funding if you're in another state. Might be worth calling the Playgroup Association in your state for more info. I used to work at the Playgroup Association in WA and we knew of quite a few funding options for playgroups so it's worth giving them a call (though they usually only provide info for members) - still worth a try though.
