My DD has been going since she was 6mths old ... and she will be 3 this May
The program we go to in Ballarat is $3 for a child or $5 for a family. They have toys out for the children to play with before the starting time. I like to arrive about 10-15mins early so my DD has a bit of a play. Then the program goes for 30mins with singing & dancing ... then followed by all the children sitting at little tables & chairs where they are given a plate of snacks & a drink (included in cost) and socialise with the other children
Programs maybe different, fees maybe different to each other in different areas (i don't know ) ??
They also have the rare occasional dress up day either in theme or a particular colour. For example this week there is a theme dress up day - Princess or Pirate ... and they are going to have an Easter treasure hunt.
Last colour dress up day the children came dressed in something Red.
Most of the Salvo's volunteers are lovely & very friendly !!!
My DD & i still love going after all this time
P.S - I have made a couple of friends from there too !!

ahh they have that in nz when ever we go there on holidays the local church does it and its free and i send the kids there with nanna lol she loves to take them we also have a mainly music cup too that was given to my son.. kids love it
I did this with my son... he loved it and he was 4. There were little bubs there right up to school age. They all loved the music and dancing, and the free play afterwards (and the Mums, Dads and Grandparents all loved the fantastic morning tea, too )
Oh Squidipa ... my DD finally got 'that' MM cup the other week ...All i hear now is i like drink in my Mainly Music cup ... or Where is my Mainly Music cup
Geez, i'm hoping this MM cup wears well, LOL
Yeh, my DD was only 6months old when we 1st started going & she would bob up & down to the music whilst i held her ... now she is nearly 3 years of age & she loves it just as much as she did back then ... Now singing & dancing to all the songs & chatting with other kids whilst they sit later on snacking
She has such a love for singing & dancing now ... i really believe MM bought some of that out of her
it really gets them out of there shell... yesteday in the shops soem music came on and ds3 was in trolley and said ineed to get up and dance.. we took him out of trolley and he started do a big bum wobble and a slight kung fu style dance and then brake dancing and singing lol it was soooo funny lol
I can't speak from a child's point of view but my mother-in-law coordinates a Mainly Music group at her local church (not Salvo's, lots of denominations do it). Their group is $5 per family and includes morning tea I believe. The mothers have a great time apparently as they have a chance to mingle with other mums. They have a lot of volunteer helpers (who have all been trained and have a "blue card"/ safe for working with children certification).
It's been incredibly popular - they now run 4 groups and have a waiting list of about 40 kids! Once my little blessing is old enough we'll be going along.
Music is wonderful for babies (and all ages!) We don't have mainly music here but I do attend another baby music group with DD and have been since she was 7 mths old. I think its fabulous for brain and social development.
