Christina!! OMG how scary about little Josh having an asthma attack! We were only just talking about it when we met saying it had been a while. I hope he gets over this cold quickly and it doesn't trigger any more attacks. Thinking of you and little Josh. It does sound like it's going to be a hectic Christmas for you running around and travelling etc, but I hope you enjoy it.
There is a few nasty virus' going around.. my boys came down with one Friday and they deteriorated so rapidly, terrible croupy coughs and green runny noses! I just got it yesterday and feel awful...starting to wonder whether it might be the flu as every bone in my body feels like it's aching and I'm absolutely exhausted. My chest hurts so much when I breathe.. I can just imagine if Josh has something similar it would play absolute havoc with his asthma. I'm hoping because it's come on so quickly that it will pass quickly and we don't have to be sick for Christmas day!
Leah - I totally agree re having to take them in dirty clothes to play in that bark! I wonder why they put it there.. especially at a restaurant. The bark in the park next to me is just normal bark.. it doesn't make them so dirty.. why couldn't they use that?! I was actually hesitant when loading the boys into the car thinking.. should I just strip them off in the car park and throw on some spare clothes so they don't put this mud all through their car seats. In the end I gave up.. we were all a mess and came straight home for showers/baths!
Becky - a Bbq at your place in Feb sometime sounds great!!
Wednesday the 7th suits me! Although we could do it the following Wednesday instead if it meant Harmony could join us too? I'm happy with whatever everyone decides though. You can book me and the 2 children in (georgia may not come) so just the boys.
Hey Mel!
Im just one person who can't make the 7th - so u all may aswell go! there is always going to be a next time! Don't want to ruin the fun for u all!
Wow Im so sorry Christina!! I came on here earlier and missed a whole page of threads. They only loaded back to when we were talking about where to go. I didnt even see about Josh's attack! That must have been sooo scary for you! I am so glad he is ok! There is nothing worse than when your baby is sick and you feel like you can do nothing for them
Harmony and Leah - Did you end up going to the Xmas lights? We have been out twice so far but are going to go to Collingwood Park sometime this week, they are supposed to be amazing too!
hey all... I dont relly think I will be free the following week either.... With Liam's birthday and his little party etc... Im pretty flat out. Can we not make it the Thursday the 8th? Is everyone free then?
How about we stick to Wednesday the 7th as planned (I think Leah has relatives arriving the 8th?), and the next meet up we organise a couple of weeks later hopefully we can pick a date everyone can make!
Have fun on the 7th everyone! i also have my postnatal check up with my OB at 0900am that morning so i unfortunally definalty will not be able to make it!
We'll keep it at the 7th then since it is better for the majority!
Becky - thanks for your msg about Joshua - there's nothing worse when your child is sick. Thankfully it's all under control now and he has improved even more today.
Harmony - you gotta make it next time! Can't wait to see lil Bianca again i'm sure she has grown so much!
Christina - she has grown she is now 5.2kgs! i wish she little again! hehehe

How u going anyway? and how are the 2 kiddlywinks? looking forward to santa's visit?
we're doing good now after joshy's scare on the weekend! Joshua is looking forward to xmas - he keeps saying santa bring big car! I guess i know what to get LOL. Chloe is being a little bit naughty this week, so many tantrums DH got very mad at her last night! In fact we had decided to ttc#3 in the new year now he's saying maybe no if she keeps up her tantrums....
Pics of bianca are so cute!! they grow so quick don't they? Oh i'm getting clucky now...
Ok cool... the Wednesday it is! Are we looking at about 10:30 again?
How is it set out this play centre? Are the tables reasonably close to the play area? I only ask cause both of my 2 can be a bit sooky at times and always have to have me in their view... lol
Harmony! I love your pics. The ones of her in her little blue dress are gorgeous!!!
the tables are in the middle fairly spread out with play equipment on either side, don't worry i'm in the same boat as you both my kids are so clingy!!
Hey Harmony - I'm up every day at 3:30 am for the day! My 14 month old doesn't sleep well at all, and likes to start his day bright and early. He is always very happy when he wakes up, anywhere from 3 am to 3:45 am... and won't go back to bed. This has been going on for months so I am getting use to it.. just wish there was something I could do to help him sleep more as not only do I need it.. the doctors and nurses say he isn't getting the sleep that he requires at this age. He is also usually up several times a night too. I keep saying to myself.. in another year, he surely would have to be sleeping better, so it isn't forever and just get through it. But I'm struggling on only 4-5 hours sleep a night for over a year now.. and have a newborn arriving in 4 and a bit months!
I had a big whinge to the other Ladies when we met up.. always hopeful someone might have some suggestions or answers! Mothers instinct tells me there is something more to it then just a bad sleeper, but I haven't been able to get to the bottom of it yet.
Good Luck with your ob appointment and bub's needles! We'll be thinking of you
Mel - im sure u have alread been asked this and im sure ur prob not - but he isnt having anything sugery before he goes to bed is he? - is his room nice and dark? what time does he go down? Also have a look at his sleep times during the day. For example If he is still going down for a morning sleep at 9am, then this is going to impact on how early they wake. Try moving the morning sleep back by first 30 mins, then a week later try an hour later.
Also aking between 3-5am is often due to the cold, as this is the coolest time of the night. Much early waking has been easily solved by adding an extra layer or two of clothing, or using a warm toddler sleeping bag.
Is he still in a cot?
Christina - thats funny DH's comment on maybe not trying for #3 cause of Chloe's tantrums! hahaha u better get them under control if ur getting clucky hehehehe
I feel like I've been on this merry go round of trying absolutely everything 10 times over to try to get Luke sleeping better. Being my 3rd, I never thought it could be so difficult! I'll give you a bit more of a run down..
For the first few 'months' of his life, his poos were complete water. Not just runny... but straight brown coloured water. They would sink completely into his nappy. I thought this was alarming as it carried on until he was 3 or 4 months old. Basically he never did a proper poo for ages. He was such a fat, healthy baby, that every doctor and nurse completely dismissed this saying that if it was affecting him then he wouldn't be putting on weight etc, yet he is thriving so there is no cause for concern. (I am saying this as I think perhaps there is a digestive issue? - perhaps he has had it all along?) He was breastfed until 1 year old. No colic or reflux or anything like that, not extra windy - just normal other than the poos.
His sleep prior to 5.5 months when I started feeding him solids was typically normal.. sleeping well enough, waking once at 3 am for a breast feed then straight back to sleep. After I introduced solids.. he never slept. Up all night screaming hysterically on and off in shrieks, and up from about 4.30 am everyday. I've seen at least a dozen different gp's with him, and a couple of times he's had an ear infection or been teething so they just say that must be it.. but he was constantlyup screaming with or without ear infections/colds/teething etc. So I would pick him up to calm him (which I knew not to do from the previous 2 children, however he would scream like he was in pain) Eventually my child health nurse said I have to try controlled crying, and even when he is sick etc, stick to the controlled crying. It didn't take long before he was sleeping through the night, no screaming.. so he mustn't have really been in pain? However he then started waking between 3-3.45 am every day, and has done for at least 5 months.
As I leave to drop my daughter at school each day (30-40 mins return trip) at around 8 am.. he falls asleep in the car, then wakes when I return home and wont go back down. I can't do anything about this really? He'll go down for a nap about lunch time or just after and have a couple of hours, but again, I have to leave for the school run at 2:30 ish pm so if he is asleep I have to pick him up and put him in the car - waking him most days. His older brother is only 16.5 months older.. so it has been a challenge since early on keeping him from waking his little brother and allowing Luke some peaceful time to sleep.
Looking back, his poos when young were weird and I believe have something to do with how his gut was breaking down enzymes or digesting etc?? And everything turned upside down once solids were introduced (solids were mostly fruits/veges/cereals/plain healthy foods) - So perhaps it's something to do with his gut? digestive system? But he responded well to controlled crying (for sleeping through the night at least - although hasn't been sleeping through the past couple of months), and the nurse has now suggested trying it at 3:30 am when he wakes.. but I haven't been able to stick to that as he wakes so happy and ready for the day.. it's hard trying to make him learn to go back to sleep when that's what he's use to. I am willing to be tough with him and try anything, but I just don't know what else to try?
I do get up many times a night for the toilet (love pregnancy!) so often cover him up or put on a sleep suit around midnight or early morning, but he is a very hot/sweaty baby and sometimes seems to wake from being over hot/then I don't do it... and he is cold. I must say, 1 day a week or fortnight we fluke it and think.. ok what did we do.. let's do everything exactly the same and see if it works.. but it doesn't with little Lukey! His room is nice and dark and well ventilated, he was going to bed at 6 pm and waking at 4:30 am months and months ago.. so I changed his bed time to 7 pm and he started waking at 3:30 am. He is still in a cot.. can you try magnetic underlays on babies or is that not allowed? Another friend suggested I see a psychic! There is a psychic I've seen every couple of years since I was 16 and he is brilliant.. so I am thinking maybe he will have some answers!
Sorry for my rant.. It's nice to get it off my chest! And there may be some great feedback/suggestions come from it. One can only hope.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!! Hope you all have a brilliant day!
