    Smile New to Canberra ACT

    Hello Ladies
I moved to Canberra in September, but grew up here and then moved away and now i am back. I am looking at meeting other mum's with children around my kids ages.
I have a nearly 4 year old daughter and a 3 week old son.
I am looking to make some friends here as the few that i have are all at work with older children or no children. I am finding it a little lonely here at the moment, as i love being social.
I hope that i cna get to know some of you out there on the BB site from Canberra.

    Hi Sam
I am on the Tuggeranong side..where abouts are you?
I have a 3 year old daughter too and a 3 week old son. So is your daughter off to preschool next year too. My daughter is and some days she is excited and some days she wants to know nothing about it. She was in childcare when we were in Nowra but she has been home since August this year, so she has got use to being at home.
How long you on Mat leave for?
    Looking forward to chatting

    Moving to canberra

    Hi there
I am also moving to Canberra in late Feb from Melbourne and I also am looking to make friends and join a mothers group. I have a 6 week old little girl (Elodie) and I have never lived outside Melbourne before so this is going to be a little scary. Moving because of hubby;s job so I will be a little lonely too (he will be doing shift work and I have no family in Canberra). Please please please if anyone can reply that would be fantastic! I have no idea where I will be living yet but it will most likely be in the south (Phillip/Griffith or somewhere like that). Would love to get in contact! Cheers

    Hi Virgo
Well i would love to chat with you. I have a 7 week old son (jaylan) and a 4 year old daughter(Brearna, will be 4 in Feb anyway). I have my sister here and a few friends but most of them work and have older children also.
Wow moving from Melbourne, hope your packing is going well and you find somewhere to live here soon. have you been looking for somewhere to live? There is so much here for you and your family but i understand the loneliness as i am the same. Even though i was actually born and breed here in Canberra and moved away 8 years ago and moved back again 5 months ago also due to my hubby job, it still gets lonely.

Well i would love to keep in contact and maybe catch up one day.

Sam - How are things? How are the holidays going for you? Hope things are well.
    Take Care and Chat soon

    Hey Trac73
THanks for your reply! Luckily I don't really have to pack up anything yet as all our packing and moving is paid for by my hubby;s employer. BUt I will need to start thinking about immediate stuff to pack soon (clothes, baby stuff!!) as we will firstly be moving to a serviced apartment for a few weeks. It's all scary actually! Would love to meet up once I get to Canberra and you could perhaps point me in the right direction in terms of maternal health nurses etc since Elodie would be due for her immunisation and check ups after 2 months. (4 month etc). In Vic the government provides this maternal health nurse service so not too sure what the deal is in Canberra. LUcky you that has a sister there...I literally have no one but one of my hubby's aunts (who is fabulous and willing to babysit thank god!). I have heard Canberra is a great place to raise a family but I'm not too sure coming from an inner city cosmopolitan lifestyle in Melb! ANyway, keep in touch and please let me know how I can contact you once I arrive and settle in the ACT!

Hello to all my Fellow Canberrians

What are you all up too? Would also love to meet up but not sure how we do that in regards to this thread.

Sam is your nearly 4yr DD off to preschool this year? How are you coping with the school holidays? Would love for our DD to get together for a play as my DD only has male friends and she really would like to play with other girls too>>>

sweetpea - how are things going with you? how many bubs do you have and what are there ages? What about your friend you meet up with in tuggeranong, how many buibs and what are there ages and would she like to meet up with us all?

virgo - how are the plans for the move going? When do you move to canberra?

Well hope we could all meet up soon, maybe a park for a picnic or something like that. Does anyone know how we would organise it????

    Hi Trac73,

My kids are dd 8yrs, dd 5yrs, dd 6month nearly 7. And 4 step kids dss 20, dsd 18, dss 16 and dsd 14. The step kids don't live with us. My eldest two are both at school this year. I am sure my friend would like to meet up she has one dd age 7 months.

To organise a meet we just need to come up with a loction date and time.

I don't mind travelling to tuggernong, if that makes things easier. Mondays are generrally out for me though.

    Hi sweetpea

as for best day for us... Well if we meet without DD (4yr) it would be best to do that on a thurs or fri as she will be at preschool but that doesn't happen for another couple of weeks. but to meet with bith my kids every second tues or mon is best for us but as mon are out for you tues would be best.

i PM Sami as she was interested also in a meet so i am waiting to hear from her....

Look forward to chatting to you all soon

    Hi Virgo,

I understand how you feel. I am fairly new to Canberra, having moved here from Sydney with hubbys work and am still finding it difficult to make friends and enjoy Canberra.

With my first child due in April, I would love to meet some new friends/mothers, as being a new mother and having no support in Canberra, with my family and close friends in Sydney is quite daunting!

Although I live on the Northside, I am happy to travel to Southside as everywhere in Canberra is fairly close.

Please let me know if anyone is organising a meet soon, I would love to be there.

I am on mat leave from March, so Virgo when you arrive if you need any help or would like to meet up, please let me know

    Hi Can I join in???

I live on the northside. And I would love to meet up with others. I am not new to Canberra anymore (I have been here 3yrs) But I don't really know many people. I have a 3yr old and a 1yr old and one one the way. I can meet up on whichever side of town suits everyone else, but I don't drive so it would need to be located somewhere centrally so I can catch the bus

We moved to Canberra about 2 years ago nearly now, from Bowral but originally from Sydney, and we're loving it. We're in the Gungahlin area.
