I have just read your post about the new Lollipops opening in Domain Central. I am excited! What age groups are you catering for? I have a very high energy 20 month old boy and a 7 year old step daughter. Have you opened yet? We live in Charters Towers now (formally from Townsville) and would love to check it out this week-end if you are open.

Hey Renee it is open and it is FANTASTIC!!! We went yesterday and my kids had a blast. Mia was a great host too;) We could only stay a little while, hopefully next time we can stay a bit longer because it really is worth it!!!

ive been to lollipops a few times now, its great.
it caters for all ages(baby areas as well as areas for the older kids) my bub loves it. if u havent been there u have to check it out. im goin on monday with a bunch of girls from the young mums group, will b there at 10 if n e one wants to join us

Oh, I don't really fit in the young Mum's category but I might join you on Monday!! Will check if my eldest has anthing on at kindy, if not my youngest bub and i will come along! It is great (and I will only have one child to worry about chasing this time!!)

Well, yesterday we had the pleasure of checking out Lollipops.. and it was fantastic! We ended up staying for 3 hours, and both hubby and i left with a horrible headache, but it was well worth it. Had two very worn out kids who went to bed at 6.30pm.

Great place Mia, i wihs you the best of luck. Will be having the daughters birthday party there in August!

hey Jenny was wondering if you heading to lollipops tomorrow (and so was jess) - if you are i will hopefully get down there - all depends when the repair man gets here to fix our air con and how long he's going to take - will check back in the morning

Mia i don;t think i got to say congrats after i first went there - we're there almost twice a week and my 8mth old loves it - you have a fabulous place

ladies - how much does lollipops cost???

It was around $12 for ages 3 and above, and around $10 for ages 1 - 3. Adults were $3 each.

Dont quote me exactly, but when we went, we had 2 adults, a 7 year old and a 20 month old and it cost $27 something.

The girls and I have been to Lollipops once now. I really liked it. It was very loud in there but it was bearable. The girls enjoyed it aswell.

Jaspen - The prices Renee mentioned are correct. Only the adults get a free drink at the cafe for paying at the door.

When are you some of you planning on going back???? I would love to come along and meet you all. Afternoons are preferable to us but if not thats cool.

Im Emma, I moved to townsville just before new years, I have a 7yr old girl, 5yr old boy and 5 and a half month old twin girl n boy. My hubby works away 8 days every 6 so Im pretty much on my own with no family and friends here.
Im pretty casual and enjoy being sociable with the odd drink to relax, im looking to meet some fun people to chill out with, with the kids or without!! Im studying en nursing at the moment with the hopes of being a doula.

I am a studying to become a Doula aswell. I am also at uni externally doing my RN's. I did apply to do Midwifery through UniSA but did'nt get in. So i am going the long way round now!!!

Hi Emma! So how is the EN training going? Must be hard to study etc with all your kiddies! I am an RN, so ever any questions fire away!

Sara- I did my RN's externally for a few years when I had my first DD, is lotsa work hey! Are you doing it thorugh JCU? So you are doing your doula training at the same time! Wow, well done! This is my 6th year nursing and I have been neonatal nursing for 4. I have often thought about doing my mid but have been having kids myself instead!!

Anyway girls, betta keep cruising, bubs is asleep so having 5 mins to myself!!

Shell - Yep I am doing both courses at the moment as well as taking on clients!!! To be honest, its all pretty quiet at the moment. As you know, uni is constant and I have to force myself to do study and stuff. Because of that I am usually rushing at the last minute to get an assignement in!

Midwifery has always been something I was curious about doing. From a very young age I knew that, one day, I wanted to be a mum myself so I have felt very maternal from a young age. I guess thats kinda where the attraction to Midwifery/Pregnancy/Birth/Babies comes from.

How do you find working in the NICU?? I don't think I could do it. As well as being maternal I am a very emotional person and don't think that I could go to work everyday and see babies in such a fragile state. I really do take my hat of to you and your colleagues.

My mum is doing her EEN's at the moment and work at a Nursing Home. I went in there yesterday to take my brother in to her. I have been going in there and sitting with her and the residents for a while now and know a lot of the ladies in there. Yesterday one of them came out and she looked terrible. Everytime I go in there, which is'nt that often, you can see how much they are deteroirating in there. I almost cried there and then. I had to stop myself. I then said to mum "I could never work in here. To much death. I'll start at the beginning of life thanks". She replied with "There is death there aswell sometimes." Which is true but its not something you are confronted with day in day out. Am I being naive to think this???

How about thursdays? and every week we choose another park / house to go too? Im pretty sure if we start advertsing a mothers group we could attract quite afew mums, i think starting one would be great, esp for new mums to the town that dont know anyone but want to make some friends.

I like the idea of a closed off area. I actually have just checked out the Playgroup QLD website. I was thinking maybe we could start a Belly Belly Playgroup???

Thursdays are good for me! Mornings would be good, and i'm sure we could round up enough Mum's and kiddies to form a great playgroup!!!

Yep it is right next to long tan, I will get in contact with president of muliple birth play group as at heatly hall theres a cupboard full of toys and a kitchen etc. Be perfect really. So I will look into it, see if costs anything etc. Would def be great to meet new people and get out and about...

im out for this thurs as hubby is home tonight and tomorrow got to do the shopping ( i cant do it with 4 kids or just the twins unpacking it would be a nightmare as is walking around feeding one or geting stopped all the time with people going oh you have twins?? or are they brother and sister??? der.) car getting serviced and babies have kidney scans ( they are ok just reflux not sure if its the same heriditary problem or preme related) but def next week. im really looking forward to it thats for sure. im stoked that its been pretty easy to meet others here.

Rach - The place you are thinking of is Lollipops. I've been there once before. Its great for the kids but is usually very busy around 10ish. There is also Freckles Fun Factory and Maize Mania. I've been to Freckles but not to Maize Mania yet.

I am happy with 10am! Also happy to do whatever - there are a few great parks around that we could take snacks and stuff - ones with playgrounds etc. Whatever!!

10am next thursday would be good..if its sunny I would prefer a secure indoor area where Zander can run around and baby can be on a mat on the ground

Well Lollipops and maze mania are good as they are indoors, but not sure about putting bubs on mat on floor - prob get trampled on cause these places very busy!! I spose if we got table out of the way would be ok?? Um, I know Mia that is on here owns Lollipops, maybe if no one is using he party rooms on thurs we can sit in there?? That would be quiter and out of the way. There is 3 party rooms so fingers crossed one might be free!!! If everyone thinks this is ok then I will e-mail Mia. It is about $10-$15 entry I think depending on age of child, and $3 for adults!
