DD1 has been sick since we got back from Holidays Sunday night. She said she had a sore tummy and a headache. She gets travel sick so I thought maybe she was off from the flight. She threw up that night.
Monday she was not to bad, we stayed home and she pretty much sat around all day, every now and then she would say her head hurt. No temp. Monday night she becomes very pale and shakey, still no temp though. Tells me her tummy hurts again.
Tuesday she wants to stay home again and rest. Tuesday night she comes into bed with me telling me her head is hurting.
Wednesday she wakes up tells me she feels good. Wants to go to Preschool. At 3:30 they ring to tell me she has been a bit odd, getting upset easily, she had a long sleep at rest time when she never sleeps. She started shivering and felt hot, temp of 38.8 (she has a low resting temp so this is high for her). I go get her straight away. She has not eaten all day. She tells me her mouth hurts. I thought it might be her throat and she might be getting the flu as would explain the other symptoms.
Thursday I make an appointment with the Dr. I take the kids to the park before the appointment and she is not her usual crazy self. Says her mouth is really saw, I look and the front side of her tongue is swollen/hard and red. Dr said it is not an ulcer but he is not sure. Gives AB and says come back tomorrow if she is still not eating or drinking and still in pain.
Thursday night was horrible. She was so upset, I gave nurofen and panadol at 3 hour gaps but it did not seem to do anything. She would fall asleep and 15 minutes later wake up crying. At around 1am she gave up on sleeping and she watched DVDs all night. She slept for about 30 minutes this morning. She did not eat anything and would not even drink water. She has not done a wee since early this morning and it has just dawned on me that she has not pooed in 4 days now,
Went to see Dr again. different one today. She said she did not know what was wrong with DD tongue and why it is hurting her so much. SHe said to try and get her to eat and drink but that I should look at taking her to Westmead Childrens hospital either today or tomorrow. I got her to drink by using a 10ml syringe and she ate a piece of crustless bread. She then slept for about 3 hours, waking up once in pain.

My instints are not helping me like I thought they would. The only thing I feel is that why would the Dr say the childrens hospital instead of see a specialist or go to our local?
She ate some food and I think I can keep getting her to take water in the syringe but is that enough. do I go to the hospital? Why do I not know what I should do.
