Pregnancy after Late Loss, Recurrent Miscarriage or Stillbirth ~ November 2010

Hi, no persies, just an update I was at the hospital from 11am - 4pm then got arvo traffic home so just not long been home.

So Scan showed a closed cervix measuring 3cm :lol: :dance: :clap: When I saw the OB it was a different one my normal OB was at a conference This OB I didn't like much, but he reckons the cervix wasn't even open :o he reckons it was fluid creating the illusion it was open :o However... I'm not sure because I did see a registrar after the scan last week and he was the one that showed me the open bit on the picture.. ANYWAY, whether it was open or not last week doesn't matter, it isn't now. I'm still on self imposed rest because after this scare it's what I feel comfortable with.. I have another scan in 2 weeks and hopefully my Ob will be back and I wont see the one I saw today. There was just something about him y'know........

Hi All - hope you don't mind me joining in. I have been lurking on BB for ages but haven't posted since probably before Xmas. A lot has happened in the last eight months, a move from the Uk to Oz, renovating a house, DD's first anniversary and then finding out I was pregnant soon afterwards but that it a whole other story.
I am 28w 6d today and am only now losing the irrational fear that I will jinx this pg if I talk about it! To anyone else that may sound crazy but I know you girls will understand. Falling preg again was a journey but I wasn't really prepared for the stress of this pregnancy. It has been a doozy. I have been just really trying to take it one day and week at a time.

Powelly - I remember you from the TTC thread! Congrats on the safe arrival of Ben. Such wonderful wonderful news.
Also, just wanted to pass on my encouragement to Blessed. So glad to hear that you got good news at the scan today.
I know exactly what you are going through hun and just wanted to encourage you to rest as much as possible. I was where you are 9 weeks ago and I have made it pass those scary 20 - 28 weeks. Can't say they were easy weeks but I made it on bedrest. Am still on bedrest but am not as strict - I actually sat up for dinner tonight - joy :)

My bedrest story (I'll keep this short) started when I went in for a scan at 19w 6d and my cervix had shortened from 3.8-4cm on all my previous U/S's to 2.5cm with funnelling. My MFM didn't hesitate and I was in the next day for a cerclage. He placed a modified Shirodkar cerclage and I was in hospital for 2 incredibly nervous days fearing the worst - infection, PROM, PTL. My DR also told me to take it very easy but I just put myself on strict bedrest (toilet and shower priveliges). But it seems to be working and my cervix has remained pretty stable at around 3.4cm.

Are you on progesterone? I am on weekly 17p injections which seem to be really working at keeping my uterus quiet - hardly a BH at all. Will be on these until week 36. Also have placenta accreta which doesn't seem to be causing any problems during the pg but will mean a difficult c-section and the real possibility of a hysterectomy. So very likely that this will be our last precious baby :( How bad is your previa?? Do they think it will move up towards the end of your pregnancy?

Blessed - My app went well found out I will be induced between 38 + weeks so my little bubba will hopefully be here on its aunties birthday :). Besides the pregnancy brain im fine :) keep forgetting things though lol. How are things going with you?

Powelly - Congrats on the arrival of your wee man. Hope your both settling down well.

Why does it seem the 19week scan takes forever? My next scan is 2nd of September so not long to go but im so anxious and i dont know why.. We have a fair idea what this little one is so we have names picked finally (haha). Waiting for the 20 week milestone then 24 weeks will be a while but still hoping for a sticky bubba to take home.

Thanks everyone for your lovely warm wishes on the arrival of Ben! It's certainly hectic with two kids. My goodness I never anticipated how little time I would now have. Plus my three year old is certainly making his presence felt! And not in a good way. Anyone with more than one gorgeous bub have any tips???

Dory, yes the tears flowed my love. So many tears for so many reasons. The usual crazy hormones mean I'm crying at the news, tv ads, etc and then I cry when I'm gazing at my babies, feeling so much in love. And then crying out of sheer exhaustion of this day in, day out, craziness that is having kids. I'm on alert for PND but I think it's sometimes too over-diagnosed. Me for example, I'm certainly not depressed. Just tired, and overwhelmed with my new role as mum to two.

How's everyone going? It's been awhile so I really need a few hours to sit and catch up with everyone. I hope those waiting on their morph scans are coping ok. It's such an anxious wait and such an anxious scan. Remember to breathe and try and relax with the knowledge that most babies are ok. Hard for those of us who have lost, especially after news at that scan as what happened to us.

I'm sorry for no persies today, as I said, I've barely had time to read everyone's updates (and I feel slack for being like this but I barely have time to eat let alone cruise the web).

I had my scan today and everything looked great! No signs of IUGR! It is another boy :) I am a little bit sad that we will be done having babies after this. Shelby will be our only girl.

Powelly, get into a nice routine! I have good days and bad days but the bad days happen a lot less often now. Get out of the house once and a while, by yourself! Enjoy every second :)

Powelly - Youll get use to it once you get yourself in to a routine things will fall in to place. How is wee fella doing anyway? Sleeping through yet?

Laney - Congrats on another boy hope everything is going ok. :)


AFM- Had my appt yesterday the lady couldn't find bubs hb with the doppler so I was a little worried but she then brung and u/s machine in and I seen my little bub well not so little now it has a big head *Sigh* nice little hb flickering away was good for some reassurance. 3 days and ill be having my scan yay!! exciting times 1 more week till the 20 week milestone hopefully will get there. Bub kept me awake last night moving and kicking so didnt get much sleep but got to sleep in (lol). DF has a new job as driving trucks so willl be a little hard if he has to travel far but we have come up with the idea of him taking the laptop and buying me a computer so we can skype each other.Having a bit of a rough time the last few days DF had a few drinks at a friends birthday party and well his feelings came out about Tyler but like I said to him if we hadn't have lost Tyler we wouldnt be having a very special baby now, he agreed this baby will be a very special princess.

AFM - I am doing well, reesting as much as possible. DF is away for work, so I can't be on total bedrest but I just rest as much as I can.. Button is moving heaps and I love it. Those kicks are beautiful!! I have started a Button blog if you want to stalk you can HERE I have only posted twice, so it's not that exciting, but it's nice to have a blog for Button. I still update my Taite and Seth blog sometimes. I just hate discussing subsequent pregnancy on there because if someone reads it who has had a recent loss it may upset them.. (I know it did me sometimes) Anyway, That's it for me..

Blessed - I find out in 2 days what it is but DF and my mum etc all think its going to be a girl.

Hi ladies well today im 20 weeks excatly :) so have hit my first milestone now to make it to 24 weeks. We found out bub has a single umbilical artery were trying not to worry but with our luck so far theres not much positive thinking going on. My next scan is on the 30th were I will be 23 weeks and 3 days bit upset but suppose cant change it can I... Well the u/s tech is 80% sure this bub is a girl so hoping it opens its legs at the next scan :).

TylersMummy, i actually know 2 people that have had pregnacies with a single umbilical artery. They both had healthy baby boys. I think they both had some extra ultrasounds to check on bub but everything went fine. I know that you are still going to worry but know that it happens a lot.

Laney - I know i found a thread on here also where another woman had found out the same thing. I think after this next scan I will be able to enjoy my pregnancy

Tylers Mummy - it's such hard news to hear, that there is anything remotely "unusual" about your pregnancy. Single umbilical arteries are usually fine, but there is a LOT of scary stuff out there on the net. I recommend NOT looking at it. As Laney said, you will still worry. Our wee Amelia had a single umbilical artery and she was a strapping healthy girl for her age, and it wasn't her health that caused her early entry into this world, it was mine. So I know my wee Amelia will be looking out for your little one. You never know next scan she might be all shy again and keep you in suspense a little longer. I am sorry about the timing, wish it were better for you.

Dory - Thank you, yes most of the stuff is scary but I read about it on here and the girl had been and searched on google so I had a look and well yeah im not worried about that stuff as I know this bub is healthy and had no abnormalities when I had my scan so hopefully this will be the sticky bub that DF and myself get to show of to the world :).Timing is crap but it must've been what my little man wanted or else I wouldn't have this little one growing inside, lol i hope it does open its legs I know its good to be surprised but I was really hoping that my first 2 would be the only ones I'd ask to know for the sexes. Good luck to you and your DP on TTC sending baby dust your way.

Skybie - Thats good to hear how is your pregnancy going? Still got morning sickness or any of the yucky things associated with pregnancy? lol. Thats good about finally getting to the hospital dont blame you if it wasnt for the fact I had Tyler in a different state I dont think i would even have the courage to go to the hospital here.

Pregnancy is going great, havent had any ms or anything like that which is awesome, honestly if i hadnt have had a scan on monday i wouldnt even know i was pregnant!
dont know how im going to go going back to the hospital, but because im T1D, no other hospitals in the area will take me which sucks.
3 and a bit weeks until we find out what we're having, im so scared its going to be a girl, hence why we're finding out so early so ihave plenty of time to adjust.

Well, this is going to sound weird. But as desperate as I am to be UTD again, I have opted out of this cycle. Well not really - DTD a few days ago, but not likely to be fertile. I suspect I am ovulating now and am sadly resisting DH's advances. Mostly because we have just paid for a trip to go see my Dad for his 70th birthday, and if I was UTD, we couldn't go. We go at the end of the month, so it's just this cycle. It feels odd, letting this one go.

Anyway, computer probs, so Dh needs to tinker. Belly Rubs goregous mummas.

Dory - Im doing as good as i can be :). Ah yes trying to for some reason whenever DF and I go to bed all I think about is how Tyler should be here :( I know its bad but I just wish he was. Wow 70 hes doing well lol hope you have fun :)

AFM - I had this weird dream that I was BF bub and woke up leaking lol :(. Already started leaking but not bad which is good :). Noone warned me off bleeding noses :( i seem to be getting them alot.

Tyler's Mummy - I had read that nose bleeds were common. I never got one though until HB's pregnancy (#4 pregnancy) and I got a few over a few days and then nothing. I can't remember how far along I was. Do you know how to manage them? It can be a bit confronting at first. It's ok to think about Tyler and want him here ( even when you "should" be thinking about other things.....) Hugs for doing it tough sweetie. Oh man, I had one of those dreams too. It was awesome and really helped me. Better get yourself some nursing pads huh? Pregnancy can be so glamourous, but then again it is the most amazing thing ever I reckon, dispute how uncomfortable and hard it can be. You are doing just the most amazing job blossom.

Dory - Ah yes was a little confronting but yes im on top of these out of nowhere nose bleeds for now :). Thank you hun its hard but im handling it aswell as I can be. Haha yes should probably get some since its coming in sooner than I thought.Haha I agree with you on that my back is in alot of agony and DF wont rub it hes worried hell hurt the bub but he does give me a foot rub hehe so im lucky. Thanks again I just wish things were easier and not so complicated. Is it HB's birthday soon? Are you having a party? How is she doing and how are you?

Skybie - Dealing with the hospital can be so hard. I have been there twice now and didn't cry. I have cried every other time, whether it be walking in walking out or during a consultation. It was only 2 appointments ago when I was walking out and it occurred to me that I hadn't cried. It's a weird feeling. I felt good, but there's also that slight bit of guilt. It's hard to explain... I'm so glad your pregnancy is going well.

Tylersmummy - Bleeding noses suck. I haven't had them as such, but my nose does bleed when I blow it, and in the morning I wake up with it clogged sometimes. Yukky, but very common! :hug: for you. I wish our babies were all here too and we didn't have to go to bed wishing..

AFM - LONG POST!!

Firstly i can't believe that this gestation with my baby boys I was in labour!! Only 4 days til I get over that milestone of 24+2..

I went to the cardiac clinic on Monday and mentioned that I hadn't seen my normal OB for a while, so the phoned her and asked her to see me. She did which was good. She is really really happy how things are going. We went over all the scans and she confirmed that my cervix is looking really good and it was probably just mucous in the 19wks scan. She ALSO confirmed that my swabs came back clear and I don’t have thrush,( WTF?? lol) it is probably the coating of the progesterone pessaries irritating me causing me to be sore and itchy so she told me I could give them a break for a few days. I’ll probably stop them for 3 or 4 nights then continue on til about 28wks. My next scan and OB app is when I’m 26wks so we will discuss ceasing them then. I didn't put one in last night and already I feel better.. Mind over matter?? Who knows, but I don't care! Lol

I asked Dr P if she was still looking at an early c section and she said yes probably at 36 and a bit. She said we could see how we are going if we felt comfortable we could push it back, but I doubt that will happen because I will be 38wks on the 23rd, so if I had it then I would be in hospital at xmas (not that it bothers me, but it probably wouldn't be planned like that) and I doubt she would want to leave it til 39wks. I'm not sure if I want to end up in labour over xmas, and end up with an emergency c section..

On Tuesday I went through all my baby stuff to figure out what I need for Button. I went through stuff I had from family day care years ago,filled a bag for the op shop. I just picked out the best stuff and I’m getting rid of the rest.

I went through Taite and Seth’s stuff too. I really don’t need a lot, I will use most of that, I have just kept a few outfits that I wont use and that I will keep just for them. I have picked Button’s going home outfit. It is an all in one but it’s long sleeved so I may have to buy something short sleeve, it will be hot in December. I coped really well emotionally going through the twins clothes etc, but then I came to the congratulations cards I got when they were born. I bawled my eyes out then, but you know it felt good just to sit with their stuff and cry. I haven't done that for a long time.

I am starting to truly believe that Button will be coming home in about 14wks.. I can't wait to get the furniture out of layby, particularly the drawers so I can put the clothes and stuff properly away and not have it all stacked in the wardrobe! Lol

So that's me. I'm feeling really good and I'm not bedresting anymore. In fact I am going out for lunch today with a friend i haven't caught up with in ages. Yay :D

Hope your ok I myself have done the same thing :( looking at Tyler's box where his ashes sit just make me want to but for some reason I just cant. Yay 14 weeks and your wee button will be in your arms hope everything turns out as good as it can be :). Lol in the same boat as you but need our own drawers mine and DF's stuff is everywhere and right now ii just cbf cleaning :(. Have a great lunch and yay for no more bed rest!

AFM - I had bh last night :( I thought oh noe as it felt like contractions but werent painful I kept checking to make sure no fluid was coming out luckily there wasnt abit relieved but I had 7 within 15 mins and they were very tight on my belly. I thought it was bub pushing out as I was giving DF a cuddle from behind and thought bub was joining in but turns out it wasnt so I didnt have much sleep I kept waking up to make sure that bub was staying in. 2 weeks tomorow and I see bub again ashame about the dating but oh well.

Bit of a rant here my cousin is pregnant with her 2nd child also and shes actually getting ready to drop now everytime she posts something on facebook all the family comments etc like my aunty has sent her an outfit for bub and my grandparents have bought a few things etc but im not happy.. I mean she has a son already whos just gorgeous but I cant help but think why cant they be excited for me? This maybe my 2nd child but I do not have a child as of yet Im just disappointed that shes favourite because shes pregnant again yet im just nothing :| Stupid family...Atleast my mum is happy probably the only one out of the family who is :(.

Wow what beautiful weather :D summer is coming!! I dont know how I am going to handle being pregnant in this hot weather :wall:. On a sad not my step dad's grandpa which is also DSS and DSD's great grandpa is dieing.. DSS is at the age where he understands so DF and I are prepared for questions and to answer them aswell as we can.. The family went to say there last goodbyes last night, when mum and step dad got home they were telling us that his grandpa was pushing past everyone just to give my step dad hugs and to touch him alot and his last words to my step dad were " I love you" very sad I even cryed but hes still hanging in there but will most likely pass away tonight or later today mums taking me and my sister to see him but for some reason I just dont want to be there.. :cry: Im a big baby when it comes to these things. Well something happened last night DF and I were coming back from the fish shop with chips and a dog ran in front of a 4wd, the 4wd slammed its breaks on and DF and I turned and seen the dog roll under the 4wd and then get back up and run poor little thing was in shock wouldnt even stop for its owner :( I just about cryed when I heard the dog yelp.

Hi ladies a bit of a post about me..
Had a very big scare last night went to the bathroom and there was blood.. Not just a little bit a big bit I panicked and showed DF as he was making his lunch then showed mum I was told just last week if I had any blood or fluid to go straight to JHH mum said to wait 5 minutes to see if it went away.. Well it didnt and I passed a big clot about the size of a 50 cent piece. I showed mum and she said ok were going now, I burst out crying all I was thinking was "Not again". We got to the ED and was sent straight up to the delivery suite were they checked my bp which was a little high and checked my urine which was all good. The nurse checked for bubs hb which was there and beating strong so was a bit relieved that baby was still there. Mum DF and my sister left around 11:30 last night so I tryed to get some sleep, I had 2 doctors come in around 2 am , I had an ultrasound done bub was in breech and had plenty of fluid around her so they were happy with that. I had to have an internal to see if my cervix was opened or not and thankfully it is closed. They were happy with that and sent me home on bed rest for a few days. So I am a bit relieved and resting up and hoping that I dont have another scare like that :( Just wish things werent so complicated..

TylersMummy - How scary for you. One would think after what we've been through we could have breezy pregnancies, but no. I'm so glad it turned out to be nothing. Take it easy.. :hug:

I'm 24+2 today. The exact gestation I was when my babes entered the world way too soon. I'm so happy that Button is still happily kicking away in there!

Blessed - Ah yes I do too its sad but im glad that all I had to do was show my notes and they seen that I had already had Tyler so was seen and sent straight up to delivery. I was actually thinking you'd be 24+2 well im glad button is happily kicking around and that you are over the biggest milestone in your pregnancy hopefully the rest is breezy and you get to hold a bub in less then 13? weeks

Oh and we are having a little girl u/s this morning showed 2 very long stretched out legs with a wee girly part between her legs, and if its a boy well he has a very small pee pee lol..

TM - I am so so sorry that you had a scare - but you did get to find out you're expecting a baby girl! Yay!! Rest up my dear and be kind to yourself.

BAL - what a significant milestone for you. 24+2. Well done - Seth and Tait are keeping a very close watch over little Button.

Just checking in. I'll be 19weeks pregnant tomorrow and feeling Bub on a daily basis. I have my scan next Monday and I am so nervous. I just hope every thing is ok with bump. I just want a live take home bubba

AFM, I had my 20 week ultrasound today. It is for sure another boy and he looked great. Now the tough part, coming up with yet another boy name...

TylersMummy - Congratulations on a little girl :) If I deliver at 36 - 37wks, yes it's just over 12wks!!

Lysndan- I hope everything goes well with your scan. Yay for Bubba kicks :)

Laney - No not on bedrest anymore.. Not sure if I filled this thread in? Maybe I didn't.. The 2 subsequent scans I had after the 19wks scan showed a lovely long closed cervix. The Drs came to the conclusion that it was in fact mucous in the 19wk scan that caused the dark shadow bit, and it made my cervix look open. So apparently it never was open!! I'm really glad, but it was a bit stressful at the time! My OB is really happy with the way things are going. I can't wait to come off the progesterone though.. They are giving my poor vagina hell :( The OB thinks I might be having a reaction to the coating of them.. I had a 4 night break and it was bliss!! No itching, soreness or discharge! But back on them now.. Only 4 more weeks though. I can come off them at 28wks! :dance: Congratulations on a little boy! I think boys names are easy and girls names are hard. If Button is a girl we have no idea what her name will be!

Dory - How are you going? Over all run of illness? I hope so!

Dory - It was exciting I knew she was a girl but now its been confirmed had to have 1 good thing come out of something bad.. Im resting up but am hating being stuck in bed all day lol. How are you?

Lyns - Almsot half way there hun gl for your scan next week and hope the rest of your journey is complicated free and you have a little bub to take home in 21 weeks.

Laney - So am I and doing alot of resting lol, yes I wish that too but ah nope we cant just have complicated free pregnancies with everything our bodies have gone through. Yay your halfway there and congrats on another wee boy hope you and you DP come up with a name, and hope your scan goes good today.

AFM - Not much happening just resting up bit bored lol my cousin had her 2nd ds this morning via c-sec so a bit of good news.Df has been working for 4 days so far which means we will be getting a good pay this week so we can book our trip to Melbourne for his brothers wedding in November will be good to get away for a weekend. Not long and the school holidays start (oh no!!) lol we have DF's kids for the last week of them so he can watch his stupid AFL grand final by himself lol. Well im being well looked after DF made sure I was as comfortable yesterday even let me sit in his lazy boy chair while he sat on the couch.

Hi ladies I have a funeral to go to on Thursday and just found out tonight that the funeral home we have to go to is were I picked up Tyler's ashes from and the last place Tyler was..:( Im a bit sad and am hoping that I can be strong enough to enter the funeral home again and hope that the family understand why if I can not go in understand.. If anyone could give me a little advice... It would be really nice. I know you ladies understand.

Tylersmummy - I only just saw this.. Sorry i didn't see it earlier. Not that I would have had much advice.. How did you go? Did you manage to go in. Not sure if I would have been. :hug:

AFM - 25wks today! Wow.. My weight gain has slowed down, but my tummy is starting to really grow.. I am making do with elastic waisted skirts and tights with singlet tops but I may have to succumb to proper maternity tops soon.. Why are they all black and white stripes or polka dots?? Lol

Blessed - No I didn't go in only cause none of the family did but I did have to go into the creamtorium were Tyler was cremated was hard I had a bit of a cry when I got out but other then that I think I handled it pretty well. Congrats on 25 weeks :) not long now and youll have a beautiful bub in your arms.

AFM - I've just started getting very uncomfortable sitting up the only place I am comfortable is lieing down with extra pillows ah I feel so stretched and bloated. DF brought me a body pillow since I tackle him when were in bed lol. School holidays have started we have DSS and DSD next Sunday for a week hopefully I wont be as tried and bloated :(. I have to cheer a little since the Warriors are in the grand final hehe they bet Storm. I have been craving caramello chocolate mm :D little bub has been kicking me I am starting to feel like a boxing bag lol.

How are you other ladies doing?

Lysn - Yep its going by very fast it only feels like yesterday I found out I was pregnant. Thank you I hope that it will go fast enough that soon enough ill have a beautiful wee girl in my arms. Congrats to you too on being 20 weeks half way there hope the rest of your pregnancy goes by quick like this year is.
