I'm new on here and just had my first positive test this arvo, and now i dont know what to do!! I'm 6 days overdue for period so i'm thinking i should trust that test (i will do another one in the morning and go see dr) but no other symptoms, but i have a lot of questions...
I dont know what i should and shouldnt eat, if i should avoid lifting heavy things, am i still ok to excercise.... all that sort of thing. If there is a baby there i dont want to hurt it!
My husband and i are very excited at the possibility (dont want to get too excited until definate tho) but i thought it would take longer than a few months! my sis just had a baby but i dont really want to let anyone know until 12 week mark so cant really ask her....
Congratulations! Yes you can still excercise, the idea is just not to overheat as bubs can't regulate their body temp like we do. Lifting should be ok as you won't have the relaxin hormones that can cause problems later but be sensible.
BB is a great place to come for advice when you can't ask people in real life.
Hey, congratulations to you and your husband! I hope you have a wonderfully happy and healthy pregnancy
BellyBelly is an AMAZING resource for all things pregnancy, birth and baby - I've got two kids and this site saves my life on a very regular basis
There are answers to just about every question you could possibly ask, and more you'd have never thought of, around here so have heaps of fun using the 'search' function and just browsing around We try to be a pretty friendly bunch and we're more than happy to help out with any advice you might need.
Congrats again, welcome to BB, hope you enjoy your stay here and find all the info you're looking for and more besides!
xo
Congrats! An exciting time ahead! I agree with the other girls, this IS the place for everything you need to know!! A couple of food tips - dodge deli meats, soft cheeses, raw mushrooms!! They were the biggest hit for me at the beginning. Then later.....well basically everything that gives you heartburn!!!!
Good luck and hope the next few weeks travels quickly for you to get to the 12wk mark!
Congrats hun! Pregnancy tests are so accurate that doctors usually won't retest if you've a positive - you're far more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.
With exercising, you want to keep your body temp below 38.9 - so no hot spas / saunas etc. If you're fairly fit, then generally it's OK to maintain your current exercise level - just don't start training for any marathons or triathlons if you don't already do that
Start thinking about your maternity care though, do you want midwife care, GP care, or is there a family history where you think you may need an obstetrician? Either way, book in to see your GP soon as you'll need to get a referral for any tests required and a referral for an OB if you choose to go that way.
thanks all, it's great to know theres lots of info and support! I think the hardest part for now will be hiding it for the next couple of months (especially trying to make up excuses for not drinking!)
Appreciate the help, especially old posts that (contrary to most articles) say that loss of appitite is normal!
Yep l always lose my appetite when pregnant I struggle to eat and get full really quickly, my bumps are always small too so my dr thinks it's just the way I carry babies
