Congrats Natalie!!!!! That's fantastic! Well done you and DP, so fast too!

Just a few things to add to the info the girls have already given you: you can see any Dr to get a blood test (BT) to confirm the pregnancy and you can see them whenever you want. I saw mine before my period was due as I'd had two positive home pregnancy tests (HPTs) and I was pretty convinced I was pg.

I didn't pay for the BT - I'd recommend getting it though because not only did the GP check my HCG levels (the pg hormone) she also checked for a whole lot of other stuff. If you go private, the Obs will require all the extra checks that my GP ordered, so I didn't need to have a repeat test when I saw my Obs.

I think if you decide to go public, you basically ring up and book in at the hospital of choice, but your GP will help you through all those decisions.

Congrats again!!! You'll find lots of useful info on here - check out the threads under "Your pregnancy", there's a thread you can join for girls with a due date around the same time, so you can talk to others who are going through what you are.

    All the best!

Nat sounds like you need to create yourself a ticker and start counting like the rest of us! Congratulations. I was quiet shocked too when we fell the first month. I was certain we missed the boat and even went and bought a 10 pack of ovulation strips, pads and a BB Thermometer. But God answered all our prayers and it has been a wonderful journey and experience so far.

    HI.
A new doc will be ok if thats what you want. They can get your records from the old one. You can keep seeing your child hood doc though if you prefer too.

Internals aren't really necessary til labour. Occasionally a doc will do one early on to guess how far you are, but I think it's pretty rare. (my first trip at 6 wks with DD1 I had one.)

HPT's these days are reliable enough, but they could get you to do another test the same there. They will usually send you for a BT anyway to find out your blood type, rubella immunity & test for Hep B.
They may also check HCG levels, but now always.

You should see your doc once in the first 12 weeks, then every month after that. You will get a referral to either an OB or an antenatal clinic, depending on where you are.
I had OBs with the girls, but a clinic with DS. It was an OB & midwife clinic run through the hospital.

    Congratulations & good luck!

Thank you all for your replys. I feel like I get now. I have booked in to see a doctor and get the referral. I took 2 more tests to prove to dp that i actually was cause he couldn't believe the faint lines i tried to explain that the faintest line is enough but he wouldn't have a bar of it till i used a digital one that literally came up with the word pregnant. And have pretty much decided on the birth centre i want to go to. And we finally got house where we want to live. So pretty full on all round. Ha ha I had just bought a thermometer and ovulation strips too.
