u can ask me anything =)

by the way i am turning 26 yrs old this july, been trying for almost 2 years with no success so thought of seeing my GP first had all the test on why i couldnt conceive in at least few months. i was on birth control pill for i think 3 years and i was told either i conceive straight away after i stopped the pill or max one year. I have been seeing my specialist and did few test such as hycosy because they found mild PCOS from my ultrasound and making sure there's nothing wrong with my fallopian tubes nor my uterus which thank God it was good THEn i was prescribed CLomid. My specialist started me with the lowest dosage of 25mg for 3cycles with no success [she's being careful not to start with normal 50mg as I have PCOS -might hurt so much] then 4th cycle i took 50mg this month for another 2cycles.

woah $270 per month of health insurance is too much! that can help with my mortgage already. how's your pregnancy going by the way? i hope everything is okay. as for me im just waiting for my "week" time of period to come [2nd week of april] to know any result will be, at the moment i have flu and have like a gum infection?! what im worried is i can't take any medication until last night where I had fever or high temp so I took that lemsip paracetamol and vitamin c so i feel better today, i just didnt care otherwise i cant go to work but i guess paracetamol or panadol is safe to take right? im avoiding it as much as possible though.

hi, i've tried clomid in the past, worked on one occasion (on third cycle) now have almost 11yo, i have tried since up to five cycles a few times with nothing. I have PCOS as well, i've been on metformin (diaformin) for over twelve months now and lost about 20kg. When starting on metformin one side effect is diarohhea or cramping, my gyno didn't tell me about this but dietician did. If you start slowly and build up the dosage you should be ok. i started with half a table once a day for a week or so, then added another half every few weeks until i reached two a day. my gyno has just added another table per day (so now on 3). Gyno is now putting me on tamoxifen but i don't know anything about that one.

    Hi Ang3l6a6e and welcome Mollycat,

I was on Metformin (Diabex) first and then I tried Clomid with it. As well it hasn't helped.

I think it is really hard when you have PCOS (mine is also very slight, they are not sure if I have it or not) or unexplained fertility. Ang3l6a6e have you had a "tracking cycle" where they watch your whole cycle and check bloods etc and tell you when you are ovulating???? Though it didnt get me pregnant, I must admit it did relieve me somewhat to think that everything works OK and its just a matter of time.

Hope you both have a great day

hi Sue & also welcome mollycat,

Sue, how long did you take the metaformin with the clomid before you got pregnant? yeah i think it's really hard with PCOS to conceive straight away or within maybe 3 months for normal people especially if there's nothing wrong with the couple except that PCOS which cause the ovulation to be irregular too but i heard many people or read from the forum that they were successful in 1-2 cycle of clomid and maybe 3% of conceiving naturally with PCOS.

For what I have read in the forums, doctors monitor their patient when they're on clomid regularly but as for me my specialist didn't do any monitoring while im on clomid, not even when she prescribe me on 50mg from 25mg of clomid for 3cycle. She's very confident though that she knows what shes doing coz she have lots of successful clomid patients and knows I am ovulating as it's Clomid's job to do it. I confirmed that I am ovulating because 2 months ago when my period came late [on the 45th day of my period cycle] which for the first time of 45day cycle, I took a blood test on my 41day and there I found out that I ovulated BUT negative for pregnancy! what i dont understand, i ovulated it was pretty good BUT no pregnancy? so i asked my specialist that question plus i asked is there such thing as weak eggs..something like that..where i didnt conceive that time. she said there's no such thing as weak eggs or anything like that.

i noticed im putting a lot of weight with taking clomid too and eat a lot.

Sue did you ever got sick which you think you are pregnant [while you were on the clomid and waiting for pregnancy]? Now, around my gums on my right and left mollars are all sore, cant even chew!

did you guys ever experience side effects of clomid 2-3 weeks before you get your period or 2 weeks after you take clomid?? coz as far as i know you experience the side effects of clomid WHILE taking them right..mine's after or maybe just part of PMS?? weird..

    Hi Ang3l6a6e,

I never actually got pregnant on clomid and metformin. Though I am still on metformin until the 12 week mark of my pregnancy.

With my miscarriages, I wasnt on clomid or metformin either. I just got pregnant by myself.

With my first round of Clomid (I was only on 25mg), the fertility clinic I was going to made me do a tracking cycle with it. Which was really good because when I was taking clomid, I ovulated early than I normally would. The other 3 rounds of clomid they didnt monitor me.

With clomid I also put on a lot of weight (about a kilo a month) and now with IVF the weight also continued. Though I eat really health and do the low GI stuff (which is good for people with PCOS). I think taking any medication in conjunction with fertility, makes you put on weight!!!

As Mollycat mentioned, Metformin can help you lose weight - but it didnt help me. It only helps certain people and I wish I was one of them!!!!

I normally get pregnant symptoms before my period was due even before I was pregnant. I think when you are looking for any signs of pregnancy you can interpret them as being pregnant.

I think the only true indication is missing your period and having a positive pregnant test.

I wish you all the best this month

    hi Sue,

I think everybody is different then with our signs & side effects but I wish I am one of those women who have good side effect such as losing weight instead of putting on weight with fertility drug. I thought metformin and clomid is unsafe with the baby? I am not sure how metformin works anyway.

yeah i think i better stick with positive test results, not even missed period coz mine could be anythin. I am sick of relying on any signs of pregnancy as they are normal for me for my PMS which I hate by the way.

    Hi Sue,

Not sure how I can contact you but since I have been in contact with you, I prefer to ask advice from you and plus whoever can read this message too. At the moment, you are the only one I know.

I took twice pregnancy test yesterday result positive and one this morning, still positive!! but im worried and wondering if the sticks are very accurate to have all positive results. i went to see a GP this morning and she reckons I don't need to do blood test to prove it coz i asked her few times if she's sure not to take a blood test and she is confident and that positive test results with urine is good enough. She said I am 6 weeks pregnant counting from my period I had last month and will have to do dating ultrasound on the 8th week so that's in 2 weeks time. I have to see my OB-GYN on Thursday [17th] and don't know what she will do. Not sure if I should see GP for the rest of my pregnancy or the specialist who will deliver the baby as well and which will cost a lot of money as the GP reckon.

Did you have a blood test to prove for pregnancy?

    Thanks.
