    Redlands Private Hospital & OB's

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and not sure where to post, so decided I'd try to start a new post instead.

I'm not pregnant yet, but TTC as we speak. I have been treated by Dr mastry at the redlands specialist rooms for female related prob's in the past year or so and also had surgery done by dr mastry at the public redlands hospital.

My question is, when I get pregnant, will I be able to continue seeing dr mastry or the other OB's there at the redlands hospital and deliver my baby at the Redlands private hospital, even though I live in Holland Park?

I have heard and read on some baby forum sites that you should go to the hospital closest to where you live, or can't attend a hospital if it doesn't fall in your service area (whatever that might mean) and was wondering whether this is true or not? I know that the mater private in south bank is probably closer to me, but I used to live in the redlands and used to go to the hospital there everytime I needed in the past and was wondering whether that could continue?

I do have private health insurance and according to a friend at work when you have private health you can have your baby wherever you like, even at the gold coast hospital she said if you wanted. Is that true too?

Any help would be muchly appreciated. Thanks and good luck with everything.

If you're going private you can go to whatever hospital you choose and use any doctor who works from there. So yes, you will be able to use Dr Mastry and birth at Redlands if that's what you want to do. It's only the public hospitals that require public patients to live in their "catchment area".

I have a client who is seeing that obstetrician at the moment, she's very happy with him

    Good luck

Thank you very much for that info Tobily. I am pleased to hear that I would be able to go to the Redlands Private and have Dr Mastry as my OB because I've seen him as my gyn for endometriosis and other problems and he is a great and fantastic doctor indeed.
