Smile 12 week scan!! which date do i use?

hi everyone! i had my 12 week scan today! baby was being really stubborn and had its back to us and wouldn't turn around it took 1 hour to get it to move into a better position.
Anyway i am measuring 13 weeks 3 days! and baby looks very good!
So i am either 12 weeks or 13 weeks 3 days! i have to see if the doc will change dates! i really hope so! lol its heart beat was at 156 bpm!
I got 3 photos but they aren't really good as the baby wouldn't get into position! i will upload them later!

So am i due on the 6/6/2011 or 16th of june?

What date would you go by?

If i go off the new one today (6/6/11, 13w3d) it matches my LMP!

Personally, I would go with the later due date. Where'd the 16th come from anyway, if not from LMP?

How did you get the 12 week estimate? Generally earlier scans are more accurate so this one could be a bit out, but if you were charting and everything and you're pretty sure of ovulation and conception dates, I'd say what you've worked out yourself is probably pretty accurate. Does that match up with the scan (seeing as your LMP does)?

Where did you get the 12 week date from (if LMP and ultrasound both say 13 wk 3 days)?

If you go with 12 weeks, then less chance of early intervention at the end of your pregnancy.

thing is i have been confused about dates from day 1, as i assumed going off my LMP i was 7 weeks, so got a scan that day and they dated me at 5w4d, so we went off the 5w4d, going off that i am 12 weeks today and then i had my scan today and now they have put me forward to my original dating from my LMP so 13w3d. it is so confusing! hope that made sense???

Are your cycles very regular? Like could there be a good chance you ovulated later and that's why it came up as 5w4d?

no my cycles are very regular! that's why i was confused when they put me back at the first scan!
With everyone of my pregnancies going off my LMP has always been correct! i don't know!

Ok... So if the first scan never happened, you'd have thought all along that you're at 13w3d. Is there a chance the sonographer for your first scan made a mistake? Wasn't very experienced? It's just that those early ones are usually more accurate, but seeing as you've got definite dates and the second scan matches them... I dunno!! Lol sorry I'm not much help. Could you take copies of both scans back to your GP and see if they can see if one of them is out on dates?

yeah my doc gets copies but i don't see him for another 4 weeks. to me it would make sense to go with my LMP which matches this latest scan but i guess i will have to wait and see! lol i am just impatient. there is a chance the first scan was wrong, as with my scan today she checked the length/dates a couple of times and was the same every time. i dunno!

I would go from your LMP. At least you know that is accurate.

Lol you poor bugger, makes it very confusing!! Personally I'd go with the dates that match your LMP, you seem pretty certain about it. And then if everything else from here matches up with those dates stick with it. But I suppose in the back of my mind I'd have the later dates too, so I don't get too stressed about going overdue. Good luck!

I'd go with your LMP in that case - doctors just often trust machinery more than women's bodies...
At least the other date is the 'right' way for you - you'll proably just end up going early compared to their dates, rather than getting pushed into an induction.

Go with your LMP dates darl, as all it takes is for the sonographers to be a little bit out in their measurements and you'll get completely different dates (and in those very early days of your first scan half a mm or 1mm can throw the dates out quite a bit).

BTW, I used to live in Sale too Not too bad a place to live, at least compared to the town I'm in now lol, we don't even have a Sam's Warehouse anymore

My OB goes by the 12 week scan date, but BOTH of my girls came on my LMP EDD, so I don't bother with the scan date. Every baby is different, as is every Dr.
How exciting for you, a beautifully healthy little bubba playing around in there!

My entire pregnancy has been a date tug-o-war between midwives, doctors and sonographers. Fortunately, I landed a midwife who was quite happy to fight for MY date. She was away for my 40 week appt (!) but her stand-in said that they're more likely to use a 12 week scan EDD now than a 6 week scan EDD. Anyway, I won, and they're using my date.

I would go with your LMP date if that's what you trust.
