Unhappy 3rd time IVF - worried about low HCG

    Hi All,

I am new member on Belly Belly. As they say "3rd time lucky", I have been through 2 unsucessful IVF treatments in Sydney, and am on my 3rd one. With only 3 fertilized eggs, and to find out on the day of the transfer (5th day) that 2 were very slow growing and no good and the only lucky one left was at morula stage (day 4) instead of blastocyst stage (day 5). I had this one egg transferred and had my first blood test on Sunday (16 DPO) and my HCG was only 58. The nurse had advised that a count of 100 HCG is considered as good. So I have to go in for a blood test tomorrow. I am feeling very scared and nervous as I am thinking very negative as the count will not have doubled. I have had a miscarriage last year where I fell pregnant naturally, but my HCG level were doubling very 2nd to 3rd day.

Has anyone gone through a similar HCG count and had success and is pregnant now? Any encouragement would help. I am praying day and night that tomorrow I have good news about my blood test.

After reading some stories on this forum, my heart goes out to all women who are trying so hard to have babies. It brings tears to my eyes reading some of the stories.

    Best regards

    Hi Adkins_81,

Thankyou so much for your kind words. Fingers and toes crossed for tomorrow. I cannot stop thinking about it. I need a glass of wine, and I cannot even drink...funny that hey....hubby and I love wine

I just keep wishing that I don't bleed, otherwise that will get me more worried.

I have found that all the women in this Forum are so lovely and full of kind words. Will keep you posted.

    Kind regards

    Hi Max,

I had a blood test done when i was 4 weeks 2 days and the HCG level came back as 59. I am now 10 weeks pregnant and all is going well so far....so don't give up hope yet! I was not doing IVF but I was on medication to help fall pregnant due to POCS.

Hope all goes well tomorrow and I will check in to see how you went.

    Hi max,

blastocyst transfers historically present with lower HCG levels. While most embryos implant 5-7 days after fertilisation, embryos transferred at blastocyst stage generally don't implant until 6-9 days after fertilsation. If your little morula was lagging a bit too, that would also likely mean it would implant later as it developed slower, therefore your HCG levels are 16dpo would of course be lower than most natural pgs.

I would definitely wait for your next BT, and I personally think it's as likely to have doubled as anything. Good luck.

    <blush> Thank you, Tina.

Charlie is a blast transfer baby, from our 8th cycle (we did 5 IVF stim and 3 FETs) My BT at 13dpo was 73, and that was considered a pg. Anything over 50 for a blast tranfer, they said. There are many ex-IVFers on this board who started with low HCGs (50-70) who are now ex-IVFers because they went on to have viable pgs.

I know tomorrow will be nerve-racking, I've been in that situation too too, but don't lose hope.

    Hi Sushee,

I have done 3 IVF stims so far and have no frozen eggs. My problem is I don't produce enough follicles, even when on a high dosage of FSH. But wow.....5 IVF stim...that is alot....I feel for you. But your bundle of joy Charlie is worth it I bet...
Will let you know how I go tomorrow.
