I've never used a forum for anything like this before - I've never been pregnant before. On a whim of sore boobs and "Im late" i did a pregnancy test - two lines. I thought maybe this was a mistake - surely I couldnt get pregnant after a few months of barely trying and I'll admit to be overweight as well - my so called strict losing weight plan that was meant to be starting today - resulted in 3 more tests. I've done 4 tests (clear blue that digital one, 2 first responses and an early first response). You wouldnt think they'd all be wrong would they? Plus now i've woken up to my symptoms which i put down to stress, being extremely tired, sore eyes, sore boobs, cramping/backache but no period & reflux i've actually let it start to sink in. Holy Cow. There's another human inside. I havent gone to the doctor - will do this week - little disheartened as partner is away and I knew i could not tell him for a week so i had to ring him - his done the whole manly thing of "Oh, oh okay - - no i'm happy - -" which went out the door with 3 more phone calls of "No more diet coke! - how much water have you had today?" "Hi Just ring to say hello" << This of which he NEVER does on any other ordinary week. Plus the little giggle when I mentioned it.
So, now i'm stressing about the things like miscarrying, can i continue dying my hair? what happens at the first doctors appointment to confirm it? Has anyone lost weight while pregnant? And do you normally to diet products or full fat products to avoid the nasties?
Also, is it normal to still feel a little bit crampy - like every now and then?

take a deep breath, =) firstly when you go to the dr he/she will probably do a blood test to test your bHCG level. but by the sounds of it you are most surely preg =)
Congratulations! Your story sounds just like mine.
I had planned to loose some weight before ttc but we got pg early so I count it as areal blessing. Your fears and worries are normal. I think we all go through it. I am 33 weeks pregnant and have only put on 6 kg. I have maintained a healthy balanced diet( still with some take away!) and naturopathic strength vitamins and minerals and about 3 lt water a day. I have actually lost weight cause I'm eating as much as I can eat bubs gets the nutrients before I do.
It's really important not to try and loose weight in pg and very normal to put it on. Being hydrated and making sure you have enough of each food group each day is vital to your health and your bubs Heath and wellbeing.

Welcome to BellyBelly and congratulations on your pregnancy. Like `TT40` has said your Dr will most likely request a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and maybe a referral for a dating scan.
Plenty of girls continue to dye their hair and Im sure if you ask on here many will have their stories to tell . Mild crampy feelings are pretty normal with things moving and stretching. I also wouldnt worry too much about analysing your diet too much, there are a few things recommended to avoid but try not to stress too much just yet.
I lost weight from pre pregnancy to post, but not by trying. Don't try to lose weight (stay away from diet stuff with artificial sugar), don't focus on your weight at all.
Do focus on the fact that you are the only source of nutrients and vitamins for your baby, so consider yourself a vessel for getting the proper nutrients to your bub and avoid crap. A mother's diet can contribute to obesity in newborns and gestational diabetes is a concern.
I really really enjoyed tuna, baby spinach, chick pea, avocado and baby beetroot salads during my first pregnancy. My second pregnancy I had bad morning sickness and acid reflux and ate a lot of unsalted, raw nuts. So not low in fat but healthy food will see you happily through your pregnancy without excessive weight gain (but you should expect to put on 11-14kgs by full term, that's just inevitable).

As most others have said don't focus on loosing weight. But make sure you have a healthy diet. Lots of veggies/fruits/lean meats etc… Also get yourself a pregnancy multivitamin, or conversely if you're not into vitamins/pills look into a herbal tea with lots of vitamins and minerals. Nettle leaf is really good, but a naturopath or midwife could probably recommend a few others.
I've put on a heap of weight both this pregnancy and last one, but I've not eaten a lot of junk, it just seems no matter what I eat I gain a kilo a week. Last time that was even despite being sick through my whole pregnancy. That having been said last time I lost all the weight I had put on, plus some when breastfeeding DS (hoping that happens this time as well). I didn't diet, I just made sure I didn't over eat, and that I healthy and balanced meals and the weight just fell off, so if you plan on breastfeeding that may help with your weight loss post pregnancy.
Cramping. Perfectly normal. Had it in both my pregnancies early on and heaps of other women do as well, although it can be a bit disconcerting at time.
