5 weeks pregnant and dizziness won't go away!

    Hello all,
(am new to this forum so please forgive me if this has already been asked?!)
I am currently in Thailand on holiday and last week I got my BFP (in Thailand!) this was great news and so far I've just had very painful boobs and some hideous mood swings! Tonight however I started feeling extremely dizzy with a bit of nausea! I researched and apparently this is normal however I have been feeling dizzy for the last few hours-it just won't go! I've laid with my legs raised, my head between my legs and slow movements, i've eaten and I'm keeping fluids up! Is it normal for dizzy spells to last so long? I'm worried because I'm in a foreign country I might be ill and it's not just a normal symptom!!??

Any info would be much appreciated!!!
    P.s this first pregnancy!

Hi and welcome chick!! Lots of info and support here.
    Congratulations on your BFP too!!

FWIW if you're worried you should always see a doctor, however for my last couple of pregnancies I have found that I have gotten vertigo quite badly after flying. When I googled, it seemed to be quite a common thing.

Hi, congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to BB
Vertigo is SUCH a pi$$er. It could be caused by any number of things. As far as I'm aware though you probably can't deal with it other than what you're already doing. If you can't keep food down, it's good to get some hydrolyte (or something similar) into you to keep your strength up - you don't want low BSL to contribute to the way you're feeling. I hope it improves for you soon.

Thank you for the feedback! So it is normal to experience a spell for several hours?! I've woken up this morning feeling better but am scared of its return as it was rotten!! The other problem is I don't know if I'm experiencing pregnancy symptoms or feel off because I'm on holiday - yesterday I felt exhausted, even feeding myself was an effort but I don't know if it's because I've been lazing about all week or if it's the pregnancy!! Same for the vertigo not sure if it's triggered by baby or if I just laid down too much yesterday!!?? The problem yesterday was the only thing that made me feel ok was laying down!!!

Trying to do a bit more today and trying to eat plenty of fruit! It's been hard to eat well here for fear of getting ill!

All in all though as rotten as it is it's the most wonderful feeling in the world!! Looking forward now to getting home so I can feel a bit 'safer' the flight is worrying me but as far as I can see there's little risk!?

I've not experienced vertigo as a symptom of pregnancy. It might be due to some other factor - a bug you've picked up perhaps? In any case, as far as I know the only treatment for it is rest (most likely horizontal & in the dark) so you're doing all you can.
I remember feeling excessively tired in the first trimester of both my pregnancies. Take it easy and rest as much as you need

Congratulations! This is my second pregnancy and I've suffered from extreme dizziness and faintness, including blacking-out from around 6-10 weeks both times. My understanding is that it is caused by low blood pressure which results from extra progesterone dilating your blood vessels. It's horrible and there is not a lot you can do except ride it out. It would be worth checking with the doctor, though, to confirm that is what it is
