6 week scan - no heatbeat

Hi...just wondering if anyone has been in this boat.

I had a scan done yesterday - 6 weeks 1 day but measured at 5 wks 4 days. The gestational sac is aok. Their is a fetal pole but no heatbeat. My first son's heart was beating at 5 wks 2 days. There is a small perigestational haematoma. They recommend a scan in 1 to 2 wks to check viability....

Now I just have to wait! I had the scan early as I have had so many miscarriages...anyone been in this boat before??

    Congratulations and hugs hun.

When i was preg with DS i had a scan at 6 weeks 4 days and the heart beat was slow aorund 100 bpm, had a scan 1 week later and was 156 bpm, its during around week 6 that the heart starts to beat so it may be that you be a bit behind in dates or that its just to early in week 6 for it to have started.

I know its hard to not stress for the week waiting but you will get there, surround yourself with love and support from family and friends that you have told.

How accurate is the 6 week estimation? I know that's what you are being told but this early even if your baby is say 5w4d that can make a difference to the heartbeat.

I do hope it turns out ok.

Thanks for support and great to hear a positive result Rachel - I only hope I have the same result.

6 wks is not exact - fionaw - as dated on LMP but that can vary is length as still BFing. The US said 5 wks 4 days (so this could be right too!).

I have booked another US for next Friday - that will be 7wks 2 days by LMP or 6 wks 5 days by US - do you think this timing will be better???

I don't know if the timing will be better, but I hope so! Best of luck.
