6 weeks, 2 sacs, one haeatbeat????

I had my early dating scan yesterday. By doc dates I am 7 wks weeks, by mine, 6w 3d.

I have 2 sacs, one just a tad smaller than the other, and looks empty...
And one with a fuzzy blob with a heartbeat!!!! Measuring exactly 6w 3d!!!
It was a BAD ultrasound... it was all fuzzy, and you could barely see bub, just a heartbeat in some fuzz.

What are the chances the empty sac has a bub??? Reading up on it, apparently lots of people are shocked to find a second bub if the first scan is early...

My levels would be over 71,000 now, and thats if i double them every 3 days, not 2!!!

I'm in limbo....... so scared this empty sac could take healthy bub away too.....

(my net is playing up BAD, so might not get back for awhile..)

The heartbeat starts to show around 6 weeks, its still early and I wouldn't worry yourself until you have another scan. It could go either way, but being stressed and worried isn't going to be good for you... try and focus on two healthy pregnancies, connect with your belly and say positive things, it will help you stay focused on what you want, not what you don't want. Hang in there... think 2!

hun, i am not 100% on the chances but remember 6w is still early to see a HB and if 1 sack was smaller it might just be a little early.

I don't want to get your hopes up but try and stay positive, can you get another scan in a couple of weeks and go from there?

it must be stressful but try to stay positive. As Kelly and ZF said, it might be too early to pick up the second heartbeat, and hey, one of my best friend's didn't find out she was having twins until a scan at 26weeks! The second one was always hiding and the heartbeats were in sync!!

I would write off this scan and try to book in for a better one just so you know for sure, you don't need this added worry to deal with

Thanks guys, your right, I dont to worry about this.. just wait and see!!!!

But I cant help analizing everything too!!!
I took a pic of my utrasound, but I dont know where to put it to show you all.....

I asked the guy at the time what are the chances of there being a bub later and he said he couldnt even guess, it was way too early to say.. plus he could hardly see anything anyway.

One strange thing i did notice is that he has 2 very different measurements!!!
One at 63mm, and one at 74mm !!!!

Are you having the 12 weeks one? Can you go to the GP in a few weeks and get them to check with a dopplar? Are they able to see if there is one heartbeat or two with a dopplar (I don't know lol!).

Hon, did you have internal scan or external, it makes a big difference for a clearer pic. I would wait and do another scan in 2 weeks or at your first first appt, when is it??? Its highly posssible that all is good, depends on the clarity of the scan, who did it etc. Where do you the scan done? for example at my ob's office the pics are not great at all, but at Sydney Ultrasound for Women where I get my dating scan done they do it internally and the pics are of great quality.

Cross your fingers hon and Im thinking of you xxx

If theres 2 sacs, (forgive me for my innocence!) doesn't that mean non identical twins? Is it possible you released 2 eggs, and one fertilised a few days after the other, accounting for the difference in sizes?

Hoping for 2 stickies for you hun!

Hun even if there is two viable babies or the other sac doesnt eventuate into a viable baby and you lose one it doesnt mean youll lose the other ok? I hope for your sake theyre both viable but my Ds1 is living proof that even if you lose one of a twin pregnancy in the first trimester you can still go on to have a successful singleton pregnancy Hang in there and maybe ask for a follow up scan in 3wks or so?

Oh PB! two! I was wondering how you were doing and then saw this thread. Sending lots and lots of sticky vibes. It's very possible it's a bit early for the second one.

I know what you mean about analysing everything. But all our analysis doesn't change anything anyway. Hope you can relax and can get another scan in a week or so.

Heya... On my phone but wanted to post this for you..

When I was preg with the twins, it was mentioned to me that it is possible to have a sack and never a baby in it, and the sac can be absorbed into the body - you don't have to "lose" anything. So even if there os no baby in there doesn't mean it will cause you to lose the other bubs by your body expelling the sack, itms.

Keep you spirits up a healthy bubba is a healthy bubba and you will know soon enough if he has a brother inter too easier said than done I know!
Anyway just wanted to post for you xo

    Thank you so much guys....

I had the same with Harmony... 2 sacs but the second sac was a funny shape and collapsed and reabsorbed... this is the 3rd time Ive had fraternal "twin" sacs, so I think I do release 2 eggs quite often

I'm more concerned I guess that the scan was fuzzy and hard to see anyway, and the second sac doesnt look smaller to me?? Also when he measured the bub twice, he got 2 very different measurements... I am now wondering if he measured BOTH, and didn't realise... or if in fact it is just empty and will reabsorb....

Too many questions!! Will call my doc and see if reccomends another scan before the 12 wk one....
