Be careful what you 'wish for'......I was pretty much the same, I had been trying to conceive for 3 years before getting the with DS, at first I didn't feel it was real and I was worried something was wrong, cause I felt so normal. I didn't have any symptoms UNTIL WEEK 10...from then I had arvo sickness every day from 2pm pretty much until it subsided about week 32, where I got bad heartburn and then finally the arvo sickness returned week 36 (with the heartburn too...thankfully DS was born at just over 37weeks, eeek!). I found it hard to complain after I got the arvo sickness cause i felt like I'd willed it onto myself, LOL! So you never know, you may still be lucky/unlucky (depending how you want to look at it) soon.
Hope you have a happy and healty pregnancy though. Good luck.
Hi girls! I'm going to go a little bit off topic here but I hope you don't mind!
I'm 8 weeks (I think) this week, I notice that quite a few of you have all been getting dating scans done and your bub's heartbeat's already! My doc is not giving me anything like that, in fact she only confirmed I'm 7 weeks in last week, and the week before she said I was only 2 weeks! I knew when she said 2 weeks it was wrong, as I was 2-3 weeks overdue for my girly time, so I had to be at least 5-6 weeks. But she's not offered me any dating scan at all, and says I probably won't get one until about 20 weeks!! Are the dating scans something that comes with private health care? Or are they supposed to be offered as standard practise? I'm not getting any info at all from my doc, not even when I should be coming back for my next checkup, so anything you can provide will be helpful!
Phynna - Dating scans aren't usually standard, they are usually requested when a woman doesn't know her LMP (last menstrual period date). If you know your LMP and have regular cycles, you shouldn't need a dating scan and your EDD is pretty simple to work out. You can work out your own EDD here: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/pregna...ate-calculator
I only had a dating scan with my third pregnancy because I was having irregular cycles and it was difficult to work out my EDD. With DS2 my first scan was at 20 weeks which is pretty standard in public hospitals these days.
Your Doc sounds like my Doc phynna!. She never offered a scan for me either. A lot of the girls on here do tend to have the dating scan, I know that I had to ask for a referal to be made after I went and saw the Dr the first time( I just picked it up from the front desk) For me It was purely peace of mind as I too had no Morning sickness whatsoever and needed that little bit of confirmation that there was really something there!. (whatever gets you through)
Ah but see that's the thing, i DONT know when my last period was. I've never kept a menstrual diary, EVER, and I've always been quite irregular, sometimes down to only 3 times a year! I just work on once I've been absolutely exhausted for a week, I'm due the next week. Or remember, okay I had it somewhere near the end of the month last time...
And the doc never asked when I actually had my last period. Or if I am on any medication, which I am, anti-depressants, but I'm so stressed out trying to get answers out of her about bubs the 2 times I've been there, that I forget to mention it. I'm so over this. It's my first time, and while its awesome, fantastic, over-the-moon news, I'm terrified! And she's not offering any help or info, or anything! I'm looking for another doc, even though that means an hour travel away.
