Amsta- From what I read excercise is both safe and good for you when you are pregnant, providing you don't overdo it. It is also advised that you continue with exercise you were doing prior to the pregnancy, rather than starting up a new routine. You need to listen to your body and stay away from contact sports. I have continued cycling to work everyday even after becoming pregnant and I haven't had any problem. I have slightly less energy up hills etc but I just take it a bit easier than I used to.

I used to do 35 km rides every so often and really enjoy them. I tried riding 15km this week to my first midwife appt and it just about killed me. I basically fell asleep as soon as I got home.

I am going to continue cycling to work as long as I can (6km each way), but probably wont ride to the midwife again. The hills were too much for me.

I think it is always good to walk especially if you were doing it beforehand, but maybe not at really hot times of the day. Also make sure you drink heaps of water.

Good luck with the exercising!
