Hi all, this may be a stupid question (!) I love baths and am really in the need for a good soak but have been told by friends that it is not good to have baths during pregnancy - I know you need to watch your body temperature and I normally have quite warm baths so assume this is why - Has anyone heard this also or is it an old wivestale!
baths are still fine, just dont make it overly hot, like, dont turn the bathroom into a sauna. I still have quite hot showers, i tried cooler ones, but, just didnt feel clean, so, i just keep my showers abit shorter then normal.
lesh ,
about the bath thing i was watching pregnancy for dummies on foxtel the other week and they said that the bath shouldnt be no more than 38 degrese when pregnant and also not to be in there any longer than 10-15 min weather its true or not i dont know but it was interesting to hear !
Hello
When I was pg with Mia I had a really hot bath (I used to have them all the time before getting pg) but this time I got really faint & dizzy & felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. My partner had to help me out & it took ages to recover, we even considered going to the hospital... I didnt have a hot bath again after that because it was quite scarey.
I just had a bath but I made sure that it wasn't too hot, it actually got a bit chilly after a while. I think the aim is not to raise your body temp to much so it if you stick to a tepid bath then I don't think it will be a problem.
I was a bit worried about baths during the 1st trimester as well, but my midwife told me it was fine, so long as they weren't too hot. Addison came out just fine
