    Bleed at 4-5 wks

I guess I'm just posting for some reassurance?

I found out on Sunday I was pg, 4 wks 1 day to be exact. I did 2x pg tests which both came up positive. On Monday I went to my gp who also did a pg test, was positive and all my bloods (immunizations check etc + hcg) I also let him know that I had a light spotting that Monday... it was brown mucky discharge (small amounts) not bloody at all. The browny discharge stopped that night.
Tuesday was ok, partner and I had intercourse last night (tmi!) lol
Then this morning, everything was ok, til about 8am I went to the bathroom and when I wiped one streak of bright fresh blood came out. About the length of a palm... with a little clot. It's had me SUPER worried and stressed. There has been no more blood at all since that, all day, touch wood. I have had a very very slight heavy feeling in the bottom of my tummy... but no further blood.

I hope all is going well with my pregnancy. Some extra info is I got my hcg result back from Mondays blood test where I was about 4wks 2days pg... it was mid 400's. Is that normal?

Any opinions on what the streak of blood could be? My gp said not to worry... but he also gave me the whole talk on miscarriage's etc...

I've heard that Preg hormones can soften the cervix which can cause it to bleed when dtd during pregnancy, it could be that. Bleeding can be normal but if you're worried go & get it checked out. You haven't had cramping which is positive. Good luck hun, hope all is ok with your little one.

Mummytash - I had the same thing & totally freaked out. Im now 18 weeks and all is good. I was told that at that stage of the pregnancy it can be a bit of harmless breakthrough bleeding(small bleed around time your period would've been) or perhaps implantation.

Hope that helps & try not to stress too much about it

Just what the others said and also you HCG level sounds good, with my first pregnancy it was 450 at 4 weeks. Good luck! It can be pretty stressful this pregnancy business!

I had brown bleeding/discharge around the same stage, from 4.5 weeks to 6.5 weeks. OB recommended no more dtd and that it wasn't a major concern as it was brown and there was not much of it. That pg progressed and although I gave birth early that baby is a happy healthy two year old.

If it's worrying you get it checked out (perhaps another blood test to be sure).

In March last year I had bleeding (admittedly more than you have described) with a clot or two and it turned out to be a miscarriage at 6 weeks. With this pregnancy I also had some bleeding at about 6 weeks which had me really worried and that bleeding was only a small amount with then some spotting over a couple of days and that little bubs is due any day now!

I hope all goes well with you.

    Thanks everyone

Since yesterday morning everything has been normal, I still don't feel that I'm in the all clear though... I keep stressing and running to the toilets every 10 minutes to check if there is blood! I should probably relax, the stress wont help!

One thing though- I am not feeling as 'pregnant' any more. Why could this be? If I had an early miscarriage wouldn't I have bled a lot more than one streak/ one tiny clot? Surely I would have experienced period-like bleeding?

If all is well, baby will be 5 week Saturday. Fingers crossed!
