Brown Discharge. No h/b at 6w 4d.

Hi,

Bit of background. I have 2 dc and in between those I had a m/c. I started ttc3 and had a m/c before xmas and one after xmas. I am now pg again. I know the date I ovulated as I follow my temp and had myself at 6w 4d yesterday.

Yesterday morning I had some brown discharge so went to see the doc. With my history of m/c, I got send to EPU for a scan.

When in with the sonographer, they told me that I had a nice shaped sac (measured at approx 6w 6d), a nice yolk sac and she thought there might be a start of a fetal pole. Her and the other lady in there seemed quite positive. However, when I went back to see the nurse, the report from the sonographer said that no fetal pole was present so she said that by now this should be present so they can't really say if the pregnancy is ok or not. I thought that they would re scan me but they said that now I have to wait until my 12 week scan.

Does this sound good or not?? Should I have seen a fetal pole or a h/b by now. I'm sure that when I had my ds, I went for an early scan due to spotting and saw a h/b.

Hmm.. i think you should get a second opinion. I'm not entirely sure when there should a heartbeat i thought it was around 7 weeks that it can be picked up. Waiting until 12 weeks is far too long to know if something is wrong. Good luck. i really hope its a viable pregnancy

Sorry to hear your having some troubles.

This sounds very similar to my 2nd MC. I had the first US that was the same as you have described but I was told to come back at 9 wks, not 12wks. Unfortunately I MC a couple of days before the next scan. I would go see your Dr and ask for another US, but I would wait another week or two to have it. Maybe you could ask for a series of bloodtest too.

I was in a similar situation to you, only my OB told me to come back in a week to confirm whether it was healthy pregnancy and it was, just a bit earlier than my dates would have had me at - a hefty two weeks as in I though i was 7 weeks but only 5 weeks. Good luck hun xxx

As Kazzo above said, I would ask for bloodtests to see if your HCG levels are rising. Also I think it's ridiculous to expect you to wait until 12 weeks. Maybe you could ask for another scan between 7.5 and 8 weeks. There should be a heartbeat by that time. I hope everything turns out O.K.

I'm so sorry you are in limbo atm. I hope your dates are just not quite right & it is too early for the fetal pole & hb. I'd get a second opinion & try to get another scan in a few days plus the HCG bloods. Praying all is ok

I had about 4 days of brown/pink discharge and then it completely disappeared. I started with m/s which I didn't get with any of my previous m/c's so ended up waiting until my first scan which made me nearly 13 weeks.

At my scan I saw a beautiful h/b and a baby that was due on my birthday.

In April 2012, I had a little boy who is now 15 months old, 5 days after my birthday.

I have just found this thread of mine as I have been clearing out my old e-mails and thought I would update in case anyone else is googling and finds it.

I had about 4 days of brown/pink discharge and then it completely disappeared. I started with m/s which I didn't get with any of my previous m/c's so ended up waiting until my first scan which made me nearly 13 weeks.

At my scan I saw a beautiful h/b and a baby that was due on my birthday.

In April 2012, I had a little boy who is now 15 months old, 5 days after my birthday.

That is fantastic news! I am currently going through similar! Went for 8 weeks scan (but told them was definitely only 6 weeks at most from conception), measured me around 6 weeks (no surprise there for us but they were not very happy) sent me for bloods and HCG is rising but slowly at what I calculate I would have been at the time of the bloods 7.5 weeks they are at 20,900 which was only a rise of 2,000 from a blood test less than two days before that. So now waiting until our 2nd ultrasound this Thursday and praying we see baby and heartbeat this time!!!
