    Can It Be Twins??

Hello I have just come over from another forum - ttc after miscarriage or loss. I have just found out i am preggers - 3 days ago.

My question is this - my preg test came up poitive sooo early - my period isnt due until this sunday coming - it came up positive tuesday....

I have heard that when you are having twins the hcg levels are super high from the beginning...also my hubby's dad is a twin, and my dad is an identicle twin...

does anyone have any thoughts or theories on this?

I have been trying to get preggers for the last year, with 3 failed attempts (all 3 ending in miscarriage sadly). I have 3 beautiful boys, 12, 7 and 2. So far I havnt had any spotting or cramps (fingers crossed). I just hope this one (or two) sticks around....

it is possible with high levels.
    Exaggerated symptoms can help too
Identical twins don't usually run in the family, they are just a pure fluke. Fraternal twins do, but only on the female side. Depends on how many eggs you release iykwim
    Good luck!!

Thanks for your thoughts bjrose. I always thought identicle twins ran in families, not fraternal twins. My hubby's dad is a fraternal twin, has a twin sister.

Guess I just have to wait and see...........

    OoooOOoO! Exciting!

With this pregnancy i had high hcg levels at 5 weeks my level was 37 000 and one of the docs I saw told me it was extrememly high and that it was likely to be twins (i'm a twin myself). I then went to another doctor as this clinic has so many doctors who all work different shifts. He told me I was 3 months pregnant because the level of hcg, I told him how shocked I was as I had had my period the month before and he just shrugged it off. Finally when I started spotting they gave me an ultrasound and not only was it just one bubba but I was only 6 weeks pregnant not 3 months. Needless to say I didn't go back to that clinic, I chose another doctor (who is 5 months herself) and she told me it was just a strong pregnancy and with the morning sickness I've had she's extremely correct!!

I think two babies would be wonderful, but hard work I don't know how my mother managed with me and my brother. But we are amazing creatures as mothers and there is no end to what we can put up with for the sake of family!

Goodluck with your pregnancy I hope you get the answers you want

Linzy - I have a friend who went through something slightly similar...
She waited til around 20 weeks to see someone, or so she thought! While in there the doc did her fundal height & it measured at only 4 weeks to go!
I was so jelouse that she got half way through her pregnancy without realising, lol.

So, anyway, they send her off for an emergency u/s to find that there is still 4 months to go, just that there are 2 bubba's in there!

eek! How annoying, when the doc told me I was three months I started feeling like I was three months, my belly hurt when i was sleeping on any side, my morning sickness stopped the next day, then the ultrasound later confirmed six weeks i went backwards, morning sickness came back! haha

I had my twleve scan on wednesday and saw my little one waving at me, everything was ok (no downs or nueral tube defects) she/he was 5.4cms so I think i'm on time hehe still got the morning sickness though, have been having laser acupuncture which was working but doesn't seem to be as efficient nowadays, hopefully it wanes in the next week or two!

I always got told identical twins were heridtry (sorry i can't spell) as my mum is an identical twin... but i've been researching lots and apparently they aren't. it's the fraternal that are. good luck

I only just saw this post.
When i first had my bt's they showed my bloods were nearly double as well. My fertility clinic just said to me that it meant a very strong bubba.
Just like you I have one lil buuba and am very excited.
    Goodluck with your pregnancy hun
