Confused with time to go for scan?

OK, so even though I have had three children I still don't get how this is going to work!! I will be around 7 weeks and 4 days tomorrow from LMP. I am having my scan done at lunch time, but the actual fetus age will only be 5 weeks and 4 days (from conception). So does that mean that it will be to early to detect heart beat, or when they say that you can see the HB from around 6 weeks, they are taking that 6 weeks from LMP??? I noticed that other ladies in my thread are having their u/s and are getting HB, but i just wanted to ask.
    Thanks

The count the age as from the LMP usually (unless you know definately when you ovulated), so you'll be 7w3d according to them.

I had an internal scan done at 7 weeks and they detected a heartbeat, so I'd say you should be able to see/hear the heatbeat if they do an internal scan. There are cases where an abdominal u/s hasn't picked anything up that early even though theres still a bub there, so I'd be asking them to do an internal if they can't see anything.

I've had scans at about 7 weeks from LMP, my understanding is they usually go from that, not fetal age. I know they say there is some variation in when you see the fetal heartbeat, an external scan may not pick it up, but an internal probably would. Sometimes the dates can be a bit out if your ovulation is later in your cycle (unless you know when you ovulated) so even if they don't pick up the heartbeat yet, not to stress yet.

Have fun and hope you see that little HB!

sometimes with the external scan you can JUST make out the heartbeat... we could at mine around 7w (from LMP).
But we got a good shot from the internal...
    GOOD LUCK hun!!!

    thanks Everyone,
I still have my doubtful moments, I'm not quite sure how to stop myself worrying but I am still feeling sick and tired, so that is a good sign (in one way). I really appreciate all your warm wishes. Thanks so much
