    DIARRHEA IN EARLY PREGNANCY

Hi there!! My DH and I have been TTC for 2 years now and have tried everything from BBT-taking to IVF without success... until now it seems. My question is that I had a hcg blood test done on Wednesday 10/11/04 and it was 232 (14DPO) then on Thursday afternoon I had diarrhea (sorry, if TMI), then again at 1am on Friday morning and AGAIN at 2am on Saturday morning. This is a very strange thing for me and I was wondering if anyone else had similar symptoms in early pregnancy.

Hi there Tanya, Thank you SO MUCH for your reply!!! Since we've been TTC for so long the whole "postive pregnancy" thing hasn't really sunk in yet and I keep thinking that something bad is going to happen. I have to go back to the Doctor's on Monday for a further HCG test to make sure everything's increasing as it should. Fingers Crossed

    Sheridan,
I'd just take it as all the hormones are kicking in and doing more than they should...lol. It's amazing the changes your body will go through to support this little wonder.

Hi there Hayseed, Thank you so much!! It's all so new - I can't believe it. I'm waiting for all the pregnancy symptoms to kick in to make it seem more concrete

Did you fall pregnancy through IVF this time? If so, how long after your first positive hcg blood test did you have your second blood to confirm that your hcg was increasing?

    Sheridan,

No I didn't fall pg through IVF - in fact, IVF has never worked for me. Each time I have been pg, it was through natural conception.

But I have long been having HCG measured through blood tests, and I have them a week apart (7 days) when the levels are "good", although for this pg, I had the second blood test done only 5 days, so I could give updated results to my specialist. And yeah, they rose. The numbers don't really matter, so long as the trend is going in the right direction. And you will definately know if it is going in the wrong direction.

For one of my pgs, My BHCG was 50 on day 28 (which is not high for day 28) and then I had a test 2 days later and it was 12. That's a good sign that it is going wrong. AF appeared the next day.

My opinion is that 1 week apart is close enough to monitor HCG levels, but some other ladies what them more frequently for peice of mind, which is fine.

    Hi there Hayseed,

Thanks so much for your information!! I've been doing IVF (and FET) for 3 cycles now and my HCG levels on DPO14 have only been 33 (then back down to 3) and 12 respectively, so this time when it was 232 I was over the moon. I was supposed to wait until Wednesday (7 days) before going back for another another test to see if it was increasing but I couldn't wait and so asked for it to be brought forward to Monday. The waiting is driving me insane!! Oh well, only 1 more day to go

IKWYM about the killer wait. I never made it to blood test stage for any of my IVF cycles. AF always started appearing 2 days before the scheduled blood test (about 12 DPI). But it was always a surprise and a disappointment.

I always thought that if I could get pg with IVf and sustain it with all the drugs, then things would be fine. In fact, for me IVF was worse. I could never get past 14 DPI.

Hopefully this one is going to be better. I've had a lap and a uteroscopy just before this pg, so, coupled with a new drug regime and a huge reduction in stress (I am on long service leave from work), I have my fingers crossed.

But so many failuers....I'm not getting too excited.

    Hi there Hayseed,

I'm sure all will go well for you.. I really think stress levels have a huge impact on pregnancy (and what's a bigger stress giver than work!! so being on leave would be a great help).

I know that it's good to keep a rational state of mind, especially after being unsuccessful in the past, but how hard it is not to get excited!! I'm in the same boat.

Do you have to go and have any other tests now - when would you have a u/s?

U/s is booked for the 29th Nov which will make me just over 7 weeks. The only tests I have to go for now are BHCG. I have done every other test available and they have all come back normal.

    Hi Sheridan,

I have also had diahhrea a few times since conception. Don't think it is anything to worry about, can just a little bit annoying and I am still getting it a little bit.
