    Drinking Water

Just wondering if anyone else is finding it hard to drink water? I usually drink at least 2 L a day of water but now it is so hard and makes me feel sick, I am finding more and more then only mineral water is staying down... not sure if its the fizz or not but it helps my morning sickness? Water makes it worse...

Is it bad drinking so much mineral water? I am probably drinking 1L of still water and the rest is mineral... weekends its just mineral...

I was and am the same. First and third trimester I cant drink water on its own. For me though, I find that I have to drink cordial, lemon cordial. My mil told me that I shouldnt be drinking so much cordial, when she found out, however I my response was that water was too thin for me, and i needed to beef it up some for it to be able to stay down properly. No one understood what I meant though.

Sorry no real help here :/

I've been drinking only soda water for months now. I just can't do still water at all. I even got a soda stream for Christmas so I'll never run out.

I don't think there are any problems with it but someone else may know something we don't know.

I cant stand water either. I have to have a few drops of cordial in it to be able to drink. I can drink bottled water so i will have to buy a heap so i stay hydrated.

No reason that you can't have carbonated water as much as you want. It is just water with bubbles no flavouring or anything so its fine.

Another thing to try is squeezing some fresh lemon or lime into your water to give it some flavour.

My DH prefers carbonated water to still so I gave him a soda stream for fathers day as its much cheaper to do it yourself than buy bottles of it!

I have exactly the same problem and cordial works for me. You can get low joule and fruit juice extracted cordial, so its not all bad.

I also found that ice blocks were fantastic and fruit juice versions of zooper doopers are a great way to help stary hydrated.

I would not worry about too many bubbles, anything carbonated is absorbed into your system faster anyway so is great news if you are a bit parched!

Have fun exploring the cordial ailse, Cheers

I was the same until about 13 weeks, I could only manage soft drink or the occasional cordial. Milk, water, juice, coffee and tea were all off the drinkables list. My Midwife wasn't too concerned, she just said drink what you can without making yourself sick, I can now drink water, iced coffee, juice and milk again, can't wait til I can stomach a hot coffee too.

same here - drinking plain water at the moment makes me feel sick, and gives me really bad heartburn ... mineral water and milk seem to be ok though

I've been avoiding cordials and softdrinks etc - anything with sugar - but plain mineral water, or mineral water with a tiny squirt of juice, and milk seem to be ok

ah yes coffee, I am such a coffeholic and I can't stomach it now... I can't even stand the smell of it... its crazy! didn't have this with my other pregnancies... ? Coke, can't drink that either...
changing topics... sorry a million questions... has anyone had a masssage before 12 weeks?? had one booked in before I fell pregnant and its a sisters day so will feel bad if I pull out and its already paid for, I will be 11 weeks.... will call them and see if they can still do it but just wondering what others think?

I've had massages, but only at places where they specifically *do* pregnancy massages, and so they know what oils etc they shouldn't use on pg women, what places they shouldn't be touching or stimulating etc. And I would be doing that whether I'm 6 weeks or 39 weeks - just to be on the safe side

Coffee is my best friend, but both pregnancies, we haven't been on speaking terms from weeks 2-22 or thereabouts ... both times, my first hint that I've been UTD has been a sudden and violent objection to coffee ...

I'm struggling a bit with water too, I've found I'm nursing an icy cold (well at first it's cold) lemonade for most of the day. I try to use water as a "chaser", a few sips of the lemonade and a mouthful of water is working for now.

I think soda or mineral water is better than nothing, but just be careful not to have to much - there is a lot of sodium in it (no idea why though?). Ryatha's idea of the soda stream is a great one though, I much prefer bubbly water but try to limit it because of the sodium, might have to invest in a soda stream.

Funny thing, my partner's sister told me to drink soda water as it helped her morning sickness. Im drinking lemon water, but cant drink tea or soft drink, makes my tummy burn Same with cordial/powerade type drinks most of the time too. Its killing me!!! Been mixing a little powerade with water too. Milk drinks are okay but makes my tum feel heavy. Worst drinking issues I have had in any pregnancy - never had issues with tea too.

thanks girls... you have really helped me out
might even try hot water with lemon if I feel like a hot drink because I can't stand the thought of coffee/tea... which is so not me but I guess its good for a detox in the meantime

I've been having exactly the same trouble too - my fridge is stocked up with soda water. To start with it was only lemonade, but I've changed to soda water because I was worried about the sugar.

I don't think you have to worry about it too much - good luck!!

You could also boil some ginger and then drink the water. Helped me so much with MS.
