I just wanted to know if it's possible to tell if bub is a boy or girl at a 12-13 week scan? I don't think we are going to find out, but I just wanted to know if it's possible or not?
the 12-13 wk scan is for dating purposes and also triple test (if you are having the down syndrome test)
when u have the 19-20 wk scan this is when they can tell the sex of your baby...if the little one is facing the right way , sometimes they like to play hide and seek
That's what I thought. I read somewhere that people have been told what they are having as early as 13 weeks (even by the student midwife who delivered my sister's baby the other day, with her first child she was first told it was a boy at 13 weeks)
In my case, yes the sonographer was 70% certain we were having a boy. This was confirmed at the 20 week scan and also when I had a scan at 29 weeks. Some other ladies here also had the sex of the bubs told at the first scan and they have also been confirmed correct at later scans.
All three of us went to the same ultrasound place so it may be the advanced equipment or that they know what they are looking at and can tell.
It is possible if Bubs is sitting in the right position but I think it is only about 70% certainty. One of the girls in our Belly Belly thread was told she was having a girl (70% sure) at the 13 weeks scan and it was confirmed at the 20 week scan.
I asked the sonographer at 15 weeks & she said it was too early to tell. I did find out at the 18 week scan though (Calvin was very co-operative - positioned just right!!!)
