    a few questions..:)

    Hi Everyone!!!!!
We are so happy to be 5 and a half weeks pregnant, I am so excited and already feel attached to this little one (its my first!!) . I was just wondering if i could ask a few questions...

    1. Does anyone else at this stage not have HEAPS of symptoms? I only really have vvveeerrryy sore bbs, am tird and really emotional. No morning sickness etc.. is this normal?

    2. When do you get to find out if its a boy or a girl? I read somewhere 18 weeks, but that seems like ages!! I can't wait to know...

Thanks heaps ladies, its such a releif knowing that if i have questions, I can just jump on bellybelly and someone can help!!

People vary.....my only symptoms is morning sickness and huge boobies, tired (but not sure if thats from being pg or keeping up with a 4 month old as well)

Most of the time at thr 18 weeks scan you can find out...not normally a scan before that (other then if you do NT scan, but to early to see the sex then).

    Congrats and all the best!!

    1. Just very tired, little nausious later on at certain smells (kitty litter, the bin, hell would probably make ppl feel nausious anyways lol).

    2. About 20 weeks they can tell you with the most accuracy. Some places will harbor a guess at 15weeks but its not overly accurate I dont think

Congrats this is my first too, have a good easter break

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

At 5.5 weeks, I was feeling very tired, and my breasts were a little bit more tender than usual, but not really sore as such. My morning sickness started at about 5 or 6 weeks. Not everyone gets morning sickness and some get it later than other, so I would think its still quite normal if you dont have it.

You can usually find out the sex of your baby at your 18 week ultrasound, but some people find out at earlier ultrasounds. Meant to be more accurate in the later ultrasounds though.

    Hi Kristabelle,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! At the moment, I have mild cramping (feels like I have my period), occasional heartburn, a bit of nausea & extreme tiredness. But no major m/s (not vomiting, reacting to smell, etc). Some days I just feel normal (and then I don't feel pregnant at all!! hehe). I know others have said that they didn't get any symptoms until later (6-8 weeks). Guess everyone is different! Congratulations again & enjoy!! I guess I will be seeing you in Belly Buddies!!

I didn't even know I was pregnant until six weeks. I only tested because I was so tired and was constantly hungry. Morning sickness didn't kick in until 8 weeks.

    Thanks guys....

Also - I read lots of people talking about their HCG levels over the weeks, and was wondering does everyone get a blood test every week or something? I had one to confirm my pg, but havent had one since....my doctor said come back and see her in a couple of weeks....

I didn't have any HCG monitoring, just the first blood test to confirm then another around 12 weeks to go with the NT scan.

Congrats on your pregnancy! It's my first too, and I recognize the joy you already have! Symptoms vary from person to person, mine were tired, sore bb, and mild abdominal discomfort.

HCG is usually done to confirm your pregnancy. I was told that some doctors might do to to make sure that your level doubles in 48 hours (however, this is not necessary!) - a second one usually goes with the NT test ... Unless there is complication, you should not require to have a third one done! But this really depends on the doctor's practice!

All the best to your pregnancy!

They only retested me when I had bleeding to make sure my levels were going up still not down . I think they monitor you if youve m/c before or if your levels are lower than they should be for the size? Mine are "low" for bubs size but is still just in the "acceptable" range, which is probably why I havent had too bad a morning sickness run. Thats just two reasons my dr gave me while they would do it in my case but I wasn't really bothered with it i hate needles

    Congratulations!!!

Regarding preg symptoms...i have had hardly any symptoms with this pregnancy...only thing really is frequent peeing & ouchy nipples (sorry tmi) when DD is having a breastfeed. I was really worried as i felt a lot more 'pregnant' with DD..but i had a scan at 9 weeks and bub was happy & healthy.

I didn't have any HCG re-testing with this pg...but i had it done about 3 times with DD as they were a little low at the beginning, then started to rise nicely.

    Good luck with your pregnancy...
