be careful- shaved ham is not off the bone!
in fact the only ham that is not pressed and true ham is ham off the bone!
the rest is pressed bits and pieces moulded together with a gelatine

The risk with any deli food is high! remember they cut all the meat off the same slicer
dont forget to stay away from pre-cut salads as well
and stay away from chicken rolls unless they are piping hot
    the high lysteria foods are
    -rice
    -soft cheeses
    -chicken
    -raw meat
-soft serve (mc donalds clean their machines out to a schedule at least once a day- so unless they are a slack mc D- it wont be mouldy- but you dont know)
    -deli meats
    -pre made salads

also wash all your vegies and fruit properly and only buy pre cut fruit, freshly squeeze boost juices etc and vegies if they are labelled washed!!!
most lysteria is killed at high and low temps- its just knowing that they are being met is the problem!!

personally i was anal with what i ate when i was out- no hotdogs (no guarantee they are kept and right temp), no subway (no guarantee they are washed) no thickshakes etc unless made with scoop ice-cream and no freshly squeeze juices or boost juice types of drinks (they dont wash alot of their fruit and some of it is from overseas where the health standards are not the same as here!!) Definately no sushi, no baine marie food and no pre-prepared dishes.
i always requested food cooked fresh or I lived off hot chips for a bit lol
it was such a PITA but when things went haywire with my twins and they were in trouble, i knew that nothing i ate was responsible!!

the degree that you want to elimate food in your diet due to its risk is up to you personally
    these are just some guidelines

btw i worked in deli's for 10 years and i am a qualified food safety supervisor, trainer and assessor in one of my previous life's lol

also no raw food prepared out of your sight and control(that includes fruit smoothies and fruit crushes )
    no hot dogs
    no pate

this list honestly goes on and on

i was shocked when i was pregnant with my son when the midwife told me what i shouldnt be eaten and some of it was so hard to follow as i craved it
