    Funny question

Does it depend how big you are to how big the baby will be?

For example my partners brother and his partner have 2 kids and they were both 6p something when born. The father is over 6ft tall and so is my partner, but the mother was only my height which is about 168cm.

So would i have a baby similar in size?

My Dh is very tall (around 190cm)and im short (162cm).

    DD1 was born 48cm and 7lb4oz
    DD2 was born 52cm and 7lb13oz

To this date DD1 is small and light but DD2 has the length and weight advantage.

TBH i dont think mum/dad size has anything to do with what bub will be.

I don't think it does really! There might be some genetic links but anecdotally my family looks like this:
    My sister - 5'8", born at 7lbs
    Me - 5'9", born at 9lbs
    DH - 6'2", born at 7lbs!

So I don't really see there's any pattern in our genetics! Can't comment on the size of my bubs though... apart from that fact that people keep telling me how big I am (at only 27wks).

Thanks for that. I was just intersted as i dont really know what determines the weight etc.

My partner was 10p and his mum and dad are both 6ft or just over! so i figured with his parents being so tall and his mum having room for a big baby that is was inevitable that all the kids were going to be big, which they were

Where as i am only tiny, and dont have room for a big baby so was wondering if i will definitely have a little one

Don't fret! Nature/your body/God/whomever you believe in will create the perfect baby for your body and pelvis

My mum is shorter than 5' and one of my brothers was 10lb when he was born! So while there might be some kind of link, there's always exceptions. Oh, and he was delivered naturally with no interventions

ETA: I'm a firm believer that your body doesn't grow a baby that you can't give birth to (provided you have the right support, info, etc). If nothing else, it doesn't make sense for survival of the species (ie. us!) if we grow babies we can't birth...

I wouldn't stress too much. With technology today they will be able to tell if your baby will be too big for your pelvis and can arrange for alternate arrangements regarding your birth.
    I was born 7lb 10oz
    DH- 7lb 11oz
    DD- 7lb 12oz
    DS- 9lb!
Then I have baby to be so hopefully it's not over 9lb cause to tell you the truth that [I]really hurt!

At the end of the day as long as your baby is born healthy, it doesnt matter if it was born vaginally with a comfy fit or by c-section cause it couldn't fit. Good Luck!

I was born 6lb 6oz and 47 cm, DD was born 6lb 7 oz and 46cm so we were almost identical in size. DP was 7lb 5oz and about 50cm. If genetics have a link then it would be unlikely that I would have a big baby.

However I kept being told I was having a bigger than average baby due to how big my belly was - but the OB couldn't have been more wrong
