I contacted the nurse yesterday to advise that AF had arrived and that I was finishing up the pessaries etc and she suggested that we bring the BT forward to this morning to confirm levels. I could only assume that AF wasn't as heavy as normal due to the progesterone and could take a few days to really come through.

Would you believe my hcg levels came back at 4,295 (from 1,450 Mon)

We still have our scan appt for Tue so we'll know for sure then. Frankly we're not sure how to feel? Just ludicrous. Maybe the Dr saw something in the report that suggested it was a 'dealbreaker' that the nurse is failing to see?

Does anyone have any experience with a blighted ovum? Do levels continue to grow like ours and were there any signs of this?

    Back in limbo..

not to mess you up or anything but I have known mums who bleed big time but still go on to have normal pregnancy ...

is it possible it was twins ? clutching at straws but it has been known for heavy bleeding to be losing one and other to continue ...

blighted ovum sorry I don't know about but I would be asking for another scan - when you are at least 6.5wks -IYKWIM - those levels seem good to me - try putting them into a HCG calculator for doubling times.

Oh Smudge, this is just awful. I agree though, your levels do seem good??

I'm still hoping for some kind of miracle for you and your DH.

How are you going Smudge? I am wondering too if you perhaps had a multiple pregnancy my love. Those figures are now doing the right thing. Do you know what your progesterone level was and if it had remained stable?

It's a long wait until Tuesday for you and I so feel for you. This must be so torturous. You have reason to have some hope here with those figures.

A blighted ovum is basically a pregnancy that doesn't have proper cell division and so therefore doesn't develop properly. Typically these do not have good increases nor high figures.

Wishing you lots of luck and I will be looking forward to hearing your news on Tuesday...

    Aww - thanks everyone.

I only had the one emby transferred, it was a day3 / 10 cell. FS was very happy with it. As much as we would love twins..Dr's orders!

Well we have made it this far and no more bleeding so that is a good sign (I think!)

Thanks for the input Flowerchild - on that BT my prog had risen to 39.59 so that was an improvement. The nurse suggested that I must be beginning to produce my own. I hope so.

    I'll be back tomorrow...

Smudge, I'll be praying real hard that you get good news tomorrow. It must be utter hell having to continue in limbo for so long.

Did you have a blastocyst transferred? My clinic had to discard a couple of embryos that got to blastocyst stage because they could see that they lacked the bits that would form either the baby or the placenta. I'm making some huge assumptions here, but getting to blastocyst stage should rule out blighted ovum as a possibility.

Hang in there! Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
