Question hcg not doubled, any hope?

Hello, I haven't been posting in ages, just lurking and hoping. Today I am 5w6d pregnant. Three days ago I had my first blood test and the hCG was 8960, progesterone was 79. I had another test yesterday and the hCG has only risen to 15,000. And the girl at the medical practice who answered my call couldn't find the progesterone level. Anyway, I've rung my fertility specialist/obstetrician and they've arranged for me to go in tomorrow to have a dating/viability scan. I am now quite worried that it's all over, again. This will be my third m/c if that's the case.

So the big question, is: has anyone not had hCG double but things have been okay? Is there any reason to hold out hope?

that was only 48hrs hon. Sometimes it can take a bit longer to double. Rememeber 48hrs is only an adverage. It's not too far from it so there is still hope honey. Hang in there! Best of luck hon. I'm praying for u

Thanks, Katkins and Nicambhar. I've just had a look at a good site (babymed dot com) and it's helped allay my fears a little. Well, this information did anyway:

    * Within the first 2-4 weeks after fertilization, hCG usually doubles every 48-72 hours
    * An increase of 60% in 48 hours is still considered normal
    * Below 1,200 mIU/ml, hCG usually doubles every 48-72 hours
    * Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum, the hCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double
    * Above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes over four days to double
    * More than two in three normal pregnancies have a doubling of the hCG every 72 hours
    * There is a wide variation of normal hCG levels. An hCG that does not double every two to three days does not necessarily indicate a problem

I'll let you know how tomorrow's scan goes. Thanks again.

There is also a good one called Betabase. Betabase It suggests that the median doubling time for you should be around 60 hrs (based on collected data) and you see to be around that. Your progesterone seems good.
Big sticky vibes for you. and all the very best hun.

I would suggest that level is pretty good for only 5w something pregnant. Keep on talking to bubba and sending it loving thoughts. I truely believe that works!

That level is practically double so don't stress, I think you'll find it's fine.

Hi Kerry, good to see you here!

Your levels sound good to me - the doubling every 48 hours is only an average, and they have pretty much doubled anyway.

    Best of luck sweetie!!

    Love Bun xx

    Congratulations Kerry!!

After your levels reach 5,000 the doubling time increases... so it sounds like things are going well.

I will be thinking of you though this very stressful time!

    xx

I think the results sound really good. Also your progesterone is too. My progesterone with Julia and also this pregnancy was low 80's and Julia was fine and so far so good touch wood with this pregnancy.

I had a scan at 6 weeks and it was good to ease my mind since I have miscarried before but the heartrate was low (112bpm) apparently ok for 6 weeks cause at my scan this week at my Obs office it was 161bpm. Just wanted to let you know incase you worry tomorrow.

Will be thinking of you. I hope all goes well.
