I would definitely mention it to the GP and then see what the GP says and consider calling the hospital after if you arent happy with the GP's answer, often the hospital will refer you back to the GP anyway. Hope you feel better soo
For the past couple of weeks ive had this nagging headache. Sometimes its really bad and sometimes just there but no matter what i do its always there.
My eyesight has been a bit blurry at times and i've felt really light headed.
I'm heading to the GP today but do i mention it to him or should i be calling the hospital? I'm booked in to start antenatal 15th of march so haven't seen a midwife yet but at 9 weeks i went in for spotting.
You think i would know after having DD...![]()

It might be high blood pressure. Seen you are going to ur gp today I would get him to check you bp. Make sure your drinking plenty of fluids luv xx
Brought to you by from my iPhone![]()
How did you go LMS?
Hope your feeling better luv xx
I saw the doctor. He didn't seem at all concerned which i don't know if its because he didn't care or it really is nothing. He checked my BP and it was 128/84. He said the headaches would more than likely be stress related as tension headaches can last up to 5 days but ive had this headache for close to 3 weeks now.
I did however learn that i am low in Vitamin D so im not sure if that is contributing to the headaches. But i've also been very nauseas and vomiting which could just be normal morning sickness.
Oh, sorry to hear you still have the headaches. Does panadol relieve them?
Sounds like you need to get outside more and catch some rays luv (vitamin D). Maybe have more dairy in your diet cause that helps too.
Its difficult been pg and sick and the same time- hope your coping ok xx
FWIW I had a pretty much constant headache for the best part of my 2nd tri (from about 12 to 22ish weeks) and nothing helped, not even panadol. Dr Google told me that it's not that uncommon (but more common in the 1st tri) and is due to hormonal imbalances. My OB told me it is because I have low/ish blood pressure (110/60). He suggested that I lay down and rest when I had one (like that was going to happen with a toddler to look after) and that if I couldn't, to eat something salty to get my blood pressure back up. Amazingly the salty food did help.
I has almost constant headaches in the first tri. Not sure about the second.
Hope it buggers off soon. Not nice.
i also had an almost constant headache throughout the first tri. at some point it disappeared but, like so much with PG, i can't remember exactly when - just that i know i don't have it anymore!
This can't be normal!! I just vacuumed and mopped. I had to get done on all 4's and scrub some gunk off the floor and now my head is pounding. I didnt even over do it.
LOL it totally is my body telling me not to the housework though my house is screaming CLEAN ME!!! hahaha
I'm going out tomorrow to buy some Vit D tablets im hoping that will give me some relief.
I drink normal amount of water, i could increase it..
I was immediately thinking dehydration as well. Remember that you are starting to have a larger volume of blood so you body needs more fluids. I'd up you water intake by half as much again and see if that helps. An easy way to keep track is to fill a jug and work your way through that so you know how much you have had. Also hot water ( like a cup of tea without the tea!) has been shown to have a beneficial effect on tension headaches (but probably due to the people sitting quietly while they drink it - can't hurt though)
I remember you saying in another thread recently that you'd lost a lot of weight in the span of a week... Are you eating right and taking care of yourself properly?
Also did your doc tell you what strength/dosage of vit d you should be taking? Having too much can also have some really bad side effects and generally gps will want to monitor your levels while you are trying to get it back up.
To be really honest, no i'm not because i just haven't been able to hold down anything. I have over the past couple of hours drank about 1 litre of water i started to feel really nauseas so ate dinner to see if it was because im hungry within minutes of eating i was in the bathroom.
I wasn't told what dosage no, i'm thinking a trip to the doctors is on the cards for tomorrow. I will see my GP who wasn't there on friday when i was there. I just feel so awful all the time.
the only thing keeping me going now is feeling the little flutters and a toddler who needs her mummy.
I had low vit D throughout my second pregnancy too and lived with headaches right through. My migraines though were only in the first trimester and did get a little better on the Vit D.
Also, remember.. its bloody hard being pregnant when you have another kid. Its so much more tiring than the first time. Increasing your water to insane amounts will help also. Also, look at how your sleeping.. maybe its time to get a pregnancy pillow to put your body more inline when you sleep? If you are eating, try to look at some foods that may be making your headache worse.
I also wonder if taking a magnesium suppliment would help you?Diet Headache Migraine: Foods to avoid
Top offenders:
Cheese (except cottage, farmer's, ricotta and cream), Alcohol (red wine is the worst. Watch out for flavourings (ie vanilla) which may contain alcohol), Caffeine (especially suddenly raising or lowering your intake), Chocolate, Aged and non-fresh meats and liver (ie cold cuts), -(also watch out for products with meat and hydrolyzed protein, such as gravy and soup mixes), Soy beans, Italian green beans, broad bean pods, MSG, Nuts (especially peanuts), Yeast (especially in homemade bread and sourdough), Sauerkraut (and other aged foods)
A big problem for migraine sufferers is food with tyramine, so there is now a page dedicated to cutting down on foods with tyramine.
Another theory is that tannins are diet headache migraine link. Find out what tannins are and where you find them.
Eat with caution:
Salad Dressing, Rennet tablets, Dried fruits (including raisins), Imitation crab, Licorice, Mushrooms, Snails, Salty foods, Rhubarb, Citrus fruits, Ripe avocado, Ripe banana, Yogurt and buttermilk, Fresh raspberries, Red plums, Onions, Worcestershire or teriyaki sauce. Wheat is a trigger for some as well.
Eat in moderation:
Everything!
Especially avoid sudden drastic changes in your diet, such as suddenly cutting out all caffeine or suddenly eating large amounts of peppermint. Whatever it may be, ease into it and eat a well balanced diet!

Headache Fighting Foods:
In the world of diet-headache-migraine cures, the best advice is simply to eat a well balanced diet with plenty of fresh, non-processed foods. That includes a variety of grains, fruits and vegetables. But here are a few specific foods that you may want to introduce into your diet. These are believed by many to have the diet headache migraine connection, and may cut down on your pain:
Peppermint, Cayenne pepper, Ginger (more on ginger here), Fish and fish oil, Foods rich in calcium (such as spinach, broccoli and kale), Foods rich in magnesium, such as spinach (maybe Popeye was right! -read this article for more on the magnesium migraines connection), Oatmeal, Wheat, Garlic
I would talk to a midwife about your BP 128 is fine but 84 is a bit too high, especially for 1st trimester. That combined with headaches & blurred vision is not good. Most Womens BP is low in first trimester but yours isn't. I'd get a second opinion from someone who works with pregnant women all the time.
