    High HCG

    Hi ladies,

I was happy when I 1st got my HCG levels over the phone from the dr's office today but since getting home and checking what the normal ranges are I am concerned.

my HCG is 97,000 but the form I have here says that the normal range for
    6 weeks is 1600 - 33000
    7 weeks is 7000 - 65000
    8 weeks is 20000 - 100000

So my HCG is much higher than how far I am along... Can this high HCG be a problem or an indication of a problem?

I think the doubling rate over time is still the most important thing, rather than absolute numbers. BUT, could you be further along than you thought? Or more than one bub?

Thanks girls! dh and I decided not to worry and also thought it could be twins... gosh we would be so happy if it were BUT we still think ti is just one and are still over the moon about that!

I'm not further along because I was charting etc and the receptionist said based on my results it indicated I am 9-10 weeks pregnant! I am not that far along though so it's just high for 6 weeks 5 days?

Will see what the scan says tomorrow.

    Hi Cherished1,

Try not to worry until you have spoken with your GP.. Im sure they wouldn't have allowed the reception to read out the results if the GP thought there was a problem.

    - Possibly the receptionist read the result out incorrectly... maybe they should have been 9700??

    - Maybe your dates are slightly out and you are 1 week further along than you thought

    - Maybe it could mean a multiple pregnancy? see below link to see comparison of single preg hcg v multiple preg hcg

There are lots of reasons/things that it could be, so don't stress, just book an appt to see your GP, or try to at least call and speak to him/her over the phone.

Hope that you can speak to your doc soon so that he/she can relieve your worries
